People on Tnet keep incorrectly using the word panic
Jul 2, 2022, 10:40 AM

If in a few years Clemson is in a position where we are receiving less than half the revenue of our cohorts we will cease to be an elite team. To state this fact is not to panic it's simply the first step of the process; identify the problem. Now, what do we do about it?

Being forced to recognize the world is rapidly changing and then projecting your resulting fear on to the messengers as "panic" is what this really is.

In 2021 the B1G paid 45M -49M per school

And the ACC paid 35 -38. That's a big difference but it's peeing in the wind compared to where it's going. Their new contract that will be announced in the coming weeks is expected to yield 100M/school while we're locked into our pathetic tv deal til 2036. You don't think 60M a year for the next 13 or so years is going separate us from the haves?

And second of all, again, we've had a humongous gap with the Big 10 and SEC for decades. How has that hurt us? That's the question. We have everything we need. We can pay our coaches and build everything we need to maintain our position as an elite program. More money going to SEC or Big 10 teams will change nothing for them. I'd say every single team in those two conferences brings in a crap-ton more money and has for a very long time. How has it helped ANY of them surpass us?
Sure more money would be nice, but the bigger thing is ensuring we have a seat at the table, same as today. That seat isn't going anywhere unless we flat out refuse to be a part of it.

Again 10M vs 60M gap is a whole new ballgame

Seriously do you guys think those 4 marquee teams would leave conferences which were on par with the ACC if they didn't think it would improve their positions? Were talking about nearly a billion dollars more over 13/14 years. If you don't think that's gonna debilitate us then you're insane.

It’s not. They’ll have to spend it on facilities, other programs(women/Olympic) are

Give to it to the educational side - they can’t pay the players with it. Oh and travel lots of travel. There’s only so much you can do. The bottom 2/3 will just increase their firing rates and buyout $. The winners are t going to change. At some point in the future the bottom 2/3 of these leagues that can’t win anything are going to get tired of it and say FU. The mega conferences were around in the 20s-30s. They’ll go by the wayside again at some point in my kids lifetime if not mine.

Big 10 and SEC teams made about $55 million per team in revenue in 2021. The ACC made about $32 million each. That's 23 MILLION DOLLARS MORE for those teams. So I'll ask again, what have those teams done with $23 million dollars to make them better than Clemson? Answer: Nothing. We have the second best program in the CFP era. What do they have that we don't? Nothing. We have top notch facilities.
More importantly and again, no matter how the new alignment gets settled, Clemson has a seat at the table.

At $680 million, the Big 10 saw a drop of $89 million in FY2020, which is what's shown in that 2021 report. The 2020 COVID season saw the Big 10 play only 6 games, hence a drop of nearly $100,000,000. The (normal) year before it was,
Big Ten: $768.9 million --> $55M each
SEC: $728.9 million --> $52M each
ACC: $496.7 million --> $35M
The "disconnect" we continue to have is:
1. Clemson will not get left behind.
2. The Big 10 and SEC schools have pulled in a gazillion more dollars over the last several decades. So the important question remains: HOW HAS THAT HELPED ANY OF THOSE PROGRAMS SURPASS CLEMSON?
The answer is, it hasn't.
While we will not get left behind under any circumstances, the gazillion dollars has done nothing to push those programs ahead of us. We have every single thing we need to be successful, from facilities to coaches, and if roller coasters at football facilities are the next big thing, then you best believe we'll build a roller coaster.
If a gazillion dollars hasn't pushed ANY of those programs ahead of Clemson, then another gazillion more won't either.
Regardless, again, we will maintain or grow our revenue with everyone else in the new landscape. Clemson University is too big of an asset and will not get left behind.

AllOrange247365. Step 1 - SEC and B1G expand their conferences with ESPN and FOX SPORTS guidance. Step 2 - ESPN and FOX SPORTS reporters, talk shows, programs and websites diminish schools which are not part of the SEC and B1G. Step 3 - ESPN and FOX SPORTS construct a national championship scenario with no or very difficult ACC, Pac-12, Big 12 entry criteria to playoffs. Step 4 - Universities will be approved to split network/NIL receipts with student/athletes. Some school will have $100M to split up - some $30M.
Paul Finebaum and eSECpn are already at Step 2.

You're a very strange lady.

You have 10,300+ TDs, an average of 8 TDs every single day since 2018. That's NUTS, or as you called another TDer, that's a "miserable boo-hole". Does it even register with you, that at 8 TDs every single day since 2018, you're the most miserable boo-hole on the site??
When I busted you for using multiple scoks to vote for yourself, you were at 24 TUs per day. Since you were busted, you're up to 26 TUs per day. It made you even more resilient to use imaginary thumbs to boost your apparently low self-esteem. Exactly how NUTS is that? And anyone can go through your more recent post history and see you're not getting anywhere near 26 TUs everyday, so obviously what you're doing is using your self-vote scoks to go deep into your post history and click away like a wild woman. Every.single.day.
When is it going to sink in that your behavior reeks of mental illness?

At the end of the day, it’s about the coach leading, inspiring, and connecting with players. If the coach is a good one (and ours absolutely is) then there is nothing to worry about.

Then argue that you're not panicking, exactly like Beta Males. Sit on the porch,the grown ups will handle this. Clemson will be just fine. All your kind do is whine .
