Well, as predicted, the US Open had not one, but SEVERAL

unknowns tied for, or within one stroke of the lead. Three under par was a doggone good score in the windy conditions. So far today, it looks even windier. Expect the "cream" to start rising today. Deer Lowered help them if somebody gets to minus six or so after two rounds. If that happens, the USGA will put the pins in sand traps for the third round to protect par.

Hope to get home and catch it this afternoon. Great tourney. Like to see Zalatoris get his first win.

US Open, the conversation always turns to 1955 winner, a little known pro named Jack Fleck. He was actually the Head Pro at a Municipal course in Davenport, Iowa, when he emerged as the unlikely winner over one Ben Hogan in an 18 hole playoff. This was Fleck's first ever win, and encouraged him to play the Tour full time for the next few years. He would only notch two more wins in his Tour life, but seemed to always play well in the US Open.
