hate to say it and be a negative nellie but imo it will never happen. it is all about new markets for tv revenue. it looks like a nc school and a virginia school will be the next two. speculation is ncsu and vt.

As long as SC and Ga veto us, we will never be there. Same with FSU, Miami, and GT.
It would be a NC school or VT that has the best chance.

One school cannot decide what's best for the conference. If Clemson does not get into the SEC it's not because of Scar or Uga. It'll be other factors.

Clemson will not join the SEC anytime close to the near future.

First, the SEC has to want us. They are looking for TV markets. Already have SC. Second, Clemson has to want to go to the SEC. Certain portions of the fan base aside, I haven't seen any indication of that desire. That means Clemson just has to put the big boy pants on and recruit and play to our strengths. Recruiting is getting better. Defense is looking better. I like the direction we are heading and don't think we need the SEC initials to compete at the top level.

Impressive. Don't get me wrong, the SEC would still be good, just not dominant.
This too shall pass

doesn't need a conference to use as a crutch.
Clemson can accomplish anything and everything while in the ACC... a league you have a woeful losing record against.
What kind of pathetic, juvenile loser pretends to be a fan of his rival school anyway?

Actually most SEC fans will root for their rival

provided their rival is in the SEC.
Back in Bama, Alabama fans were going CRAZY cheering on Auburn to win the BCS title, and vice versa for Auburn fans rooting for the Crimson Turd.
Seriously, makes me want to throw up.

Why would uga veto clemson?

I understand why usce would. It's a recruiting advantage for them particularly in-state. But yes I've always thought clemson should be a part of the sec.

The schools have to vote on who can enter the conference and they do have veto power. Uf did it to fsu awhile back. The schools empower the conference, not the other way around. I don't believe that we would veto clemson because it would not change the dynamics of our recruiting. I do believe that we would veto Gt though because they are our in-state rival and their presence would change recruiting for us.

They can recruit there. Paul Johnson just runs a high school offense and players don't want to play in that kind of system.

When and if the new academic requirements for NCAA scholarships are enacted, the Dumb Dumb League as Frank Howard used to call the SEC will find difficulty getting athletes in and the brighter athletes will look to go to better academic schools. That is not the SEC.
