It has always been the CWS. Men play baseball. Historically, their tradition is to decide the national champion by playing the College World Series or CWS. The name, I am assuming, was derived from the World Series in Major League Baseball that is historically the way that Major League Baseball decides its champion. Major League Baseball is also played exclusively by men. Now, the women who play the game of Softball have called their championship series the College World Series. And somehow, this decision has caused the men who play baseball to have the name of their championship changed. Softball is not baseball. The College World Series should be called the College World Series. If the women want to be unoriginal and steal the name that baseball uses then, at the very most, it should be called the College World Series of Softball.

if tigernet would not post articles with headlines that say something like "Tigers advance to second round" so that we don't even know the gender of the team anymore, till we start reading it or looking at the pictures. Whatever happened to "Lady Tigers" in the headline. Can't tell you how many times I've been fooled into thinking it was an article about the men.
But this is a subtle direction that culture has taken us, and few have stood up to it.
