1. Tajh proved last year that he is the best qb in the acc. our crap defense owned logan thomas and ej manuel is chritian ponder 2.0
2. Sammy watkins is THE best wideout in the nation. Good friend is a coot and we get together 2-3 times per week and talk football. always ends up a clemson/carolin pissin match but we try to keep some topics of discussion nonbiased. the other night we were talking ab the herbies and i showed him the awards, and he said 1. sammy is the best. period. ifs ands or butts ab it. and 2. logan thomas is a joke, therefore herbie is on crack.
as long as our boys get on teh field and tells everyone to suck it, then the rest will fall in to place

These love affairs with Manuel and Thomas is pathetic

on ESPNU last night I couldn't watch after the first few minutes. Somehow even though Manel's career numbers stink he's somehow a Heisman candidate and a great QB. Tricket is a better passer! Thomas is also head scratching. Somehow even though he has only two other players on O returning somehow he's going to rally the troops and produce a great offense.
Meanwhile We really only have to worry about the OL, I'm not that concerned about the DL at this point. If Thomas is being said to have the ability to rally new OL, WR, RB, and TE why is it that the 1st team ACC QB can't do the same with only 2 wet behind the ears starters?
I can't WAIT to curb stomp them again!

Logan fall off that list as the season progresses. Boyd and Watkins should have been #1 and #2 respectively.
This stupid love affair with Free shoes U and Beamer ball is enough to make one projectile vomit.

I actually could see an argument for this order and here's why:
When you've got two really talented players on the same team, there's a good chance of them taking votes away from each other. Manuel and Thomas don't have anyone on their teams that would take any of their spotlight.
People will argue that Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush were on the same team, but I still think this is a fairly valid reason for dropping them on the list.
I also like our players and teams to be a little underrated going into the season, puts a chip on their shoulders and gives them something to prove.

Why is everyone so high on Logan Thomas?
I cannot understand this for the life of me. Yes he has the same size as Cam Newton, but HE IS NOT CAM NEWTON!
Tajh Boyd destroyed him 1-on-1 twice last year.

because the QBs don't play each other, they play the defenses. A much better stat is how they performed against common opponents.
Against UNC: Boyd: 367 Yards 5TDs 0INT, 11 rushes for 8 yards and 1TD Thomas: 195 Yards 2TD 0INT 13 rushes for 32 yards and 1TD
Against GT: Boyd: 295 Yards 1TD 2INT 8 rushes for -1 yards and 0TD Thomas: 209 Yards 3Td 0INT 18 rushes for 70 yards and 2TD
Against Wake: Boyd: 343 Yards 2TD 2INT 11 Rushes for 27 yards and 0TD Thomas 280 Yards 2TD 0INT 11 Rushes for 30 yards and 2TD
Against BC*: Boyd: 283 Yards 1TD 0INT 6 Rushes for 37 yards and 1TD Thomas: 268 yards 1TD 0INT 16 Rushes for 60 yards and 1TD
Totals in games against common opponents: Boyd: 1288 Yards 9 TD 4INT 36 Rushes for 71 yards and 2TD Thomas: 952 Yards 8TD 0INT 58 Rushes for 192 yards and 6TD
*Boyd was injured and didn't play the entire game
These numbers don't tell the entire story because Tajh had some of his biggest games against his toughest opponents (Auburn, FSU, and the 2 VT matchups) but the stats are interesting to look at at least.

That's pretty silly. Logan Thomas can't win the Heisman.

I actually do think he's a good QB with a lot of upside potential, but this is VT we are talking about. They are always going to make the RBs the focal point of their offense which will never allow for Thomas to put up Heisman numbers.
And EJ Manual? Still more hype than substance. We hear the same thing EVERY preseason. I want to see some real results.
OTOH, Tajh has shown that's capable of putting up Heisman-like numbers, and he has the talent and the offensive system around him to do it. He's a pretty long shot, and he obviously needs to cut down on his mistake and do a better job of handling pressure, but he has a better shot at it than these other guys.

They could do what they did with Vick

and what we did with Woody and use the QB as the primary running back, that could get him Heisman talk if his body held up from the beating that style of play would give it.
