(LSU) Tiger Fan Coming In Peace!

Hard to believe it's already week 1. Time flies. It will be a long week waiting for my flight out Friday.
Looking forward to a first visit to Clemson. I'm a die hard LSU Tiger, but a realist, and love college football. Hopefully this is the kind of game that can get Memorial Stadium at it's best. Tiger Stadium is loud, but it's often hard to tell how loud when you are a part of the noise. I've always enjoyed seeing other stadiums show out when you are quiet. Auburn with Cam in 2010 is still the loudest I have ever heard an opposing stadium.
My feeling is this a tough one for us and honestly sets the tone for the season. If we win, I think 10-2 the rest of the way is realistic and a great shot at the playoff. If we lose, there's chance we have a team that could lose to UF and Ole Miss and we may be worried about 3 losses before October. Hard to say week 1 is make or break, but for Brian Kelly, it feels make or break.
I've been given the following recommendations. Esso, Smokin Pig, Mac's Drive In.
Anything else we should hit?
Any tailgates welcoming of some good, reasonable LSU fans? Mid 30's. Know how to have a good time. Happy to pay to help the cause.

If LSU wins?!? If they win?!? You think LSU can win?!? You are such a typical arrogant SEC fan. Clemson is the greatest and has been annointed by God himself, how dare you not think Clemson will wipe the floor with LSU!

I got to Nola a couple days early. The lsu fans were awesome and friendly.
The game started and all I heard was "S##K my tiger d##k. "
"...Clemson is the greatest and has been annointed by God..." This part is true, but isn't really about football.

If you can figure out how to get our trashballs from yelling that, I'm all ears. We have banned songs from being played and removed mics from the student section but a D*ck joke seems to be the funniest thing some of these swamp monsters have ever heard. I'm all for a solution if you have one.

What do you expect?

FriendlyLSUFan, I'm not sure what you were expecting.
You started friendly. I tried to engage you on a deep dive into rosters, but that didn't really go anywhere.
Then you got butt hurt because we have some tools for fans who had the audacity to give you s**t on a Clemson site. Go figure.
I wish we didn't have those fans. Trust me, there are a number of our so-called fans that many of us would like to disown.
As for me, I absolutely think LSU could win. And, believe it or not, I believe that there are more top teams in the SEC than in the ACC. Anyone can see that. But your lower teams are pretty bad. Anyone could see that as well. And the SEC gets the benefit of the doubt, more often as it should. OBJECTIVE observers know that the BIG and SEC are trying to (succeeding in) running and ruining college football.
But yeah, y'all could win. I think it's pretty clear that we have more depth and experience, not to mention cohesion, than y'all do. The pieces are there and this year we have the better team. But the better team doesn't always win.
I think you'll crush us next year in Red Stick, fwiw.
So, ignore the extremists. Have conversations with rational fans, and enjoy the game. It should be a good one, and potentially great!

Not me, someone else, but I understand the point. Again, I'm a realist and probably sometimes a pessimist.
LSU has plenty of question marks this year. OL with little experience, a defense that had a habit of getting torched last year, and no running game, out of the backfield or at QB. Nuss is as good as we can ask for, but he's far from flawless. He made more boneheaded decisions than you'd like out of a QB last year and can't run. That's not a good combo. We don't have a if it's not working, scramble for the first type QB. I think that really hurts us in this game of all the matchups, the one that will hurt us the most.
Our OL was actually very overrated last year, especially in run blocking, so there's a chance that is a wash. I know that's crazy to say losing Campbell and Jones, but every time we get hyped at OL, they are woefully average. We have a lot of transfers. Let's see if they can play. If we can block, we have athletes everywhere and that could be fun to watch. Plus Brian Kelly has done absolutely nothing to prove he's worthy of big improvement jumps.
My wishlist for the season, not just this game is 1) a defense that flies around. It's been too long. Especially from the DBs 2) a team that can run the ball in short yardage (2nd and less than 5. 3rd and less than. Tired of us getting inside the 15 or into 3rd and short and not being able to do anything. Hate how we run the ball from the same QB read formation all the time 3). Nuss to move his feet just a little. He has to pick up chunk yardage on the ground. You can't win in CFB without doing so.
In terms of the SEC, I think from 2004-2020, you had the majority taking the credit for the minority. You had 1 or sometimes 2 elite teams that the rest of the conference beat their chest about. To your point though, the teams doing the chest beating, we're no better than everyone else's middle pack. I actually think the SEC is deeper now with NIL than it's ever been. You just have a ton of really good teams and at least the last 2 years, not elite SEC team.

Hey Yes, we can support cool fans from other teams visiting us in Clemson, except for a few fans with little class of their own behavior, we are usually one of the more welcoming fan bases, part of our local culture. We have a great tailgate setup right beside the stadium and would welcome you to come by. We have tvs, tent, shade around, and all the usual "stuff" at the tailgate. We have three spots together right near the North Stands (about 300ft away). Let me know if you wish to come by and we can go PM. Julian and Kimberly

You will have a great time. Clemson fans are very welcoming. Tailgaters will likely offer you BBQ if your are freindly. It will be a long day of drinking, and now they have booze in the stadium, total badlam.
Get into the stadium early enough to see all the festivities. Should be a great game. 45-28 Clemson

I've been to road games across the SEC and many others. Opposing fans are often like this. Everyone usually wants to show off what makes their environment so great. And in my opinion, LSU is much of the same. If you have visited as an opposing fan and not felt this way, other than some friendly banter, you've just been unlucky. LSU has plenty of #########, but they aren't all #########.

Have you ever been to Athens? Worst fans I’ve ever been around. Of course my trips to Athens started in the early 1980s. UGa won the national championship my freshman year and Clemson ended the dawgs winning streak and won the national championship my sophomore year. The schools are only 75 miles apart. Things were intense back then. UGa fan behavior hasn’t improved since in my experience.

Otherwise, welcome to Clemson. Hope you have a good time, and then go home disappointed.
That being said, anywhere you go on Saturday is going to be packed. Absolutely packed. This is because Clemson is a small town with limited watering options.
Clemson fans are a gentle people and most will extend typical Southern hospitality to those who extend same.
Fair warning: There probably won't be many corn dogs available so plan accordingly.

make it up the road about 45min to an hour to downtown Greenville. One of the best downtowns in the country - literally. Loads of great places to eat, drink, shop (especially if you're coming with wives/lady friends!) and just hang out. Definitely visit Falls Park on the Reedy, and not just the bridge, there's a lot of space to walk around and great little spots to hang out. The Grand Bohemian hotel is something to see as well, even if you don't stay there. Would hate you to be so close and miss it. Worth the trip, for sure.

We're glad to have you.
Most Clemson fans are great. However, once they get liquored up, all bets are off. You'll probably be welcome at tailgates and treated with respect, assuming you do the same.
Some Clemson fans embarrass me, and I wish they would become Gamecock fans. We should be better than that...but sometimes we aren't. So, I apologize in advance for the wankers.
I'd skip Mac's. Nostalgic, but not great food. I agree with Smokin' Pigs and Esso, however. Clemson is small and there are PLENTY of bars downtown. Tiger Town Tavern is a college bar and if you're over 30, you may be considered creepy. TD's is slightly more grown up. If you like ice cream or milkshakes, I recommend '55 Exchange. Clemson has been making its own ice cream (and sort of famous for our Blue Cheese) since 1904. As a Clemson alum, it just tastes better to me.
Don't be a d**k and most people will welcome you. But if you want to pick fights, I'm sure there will be willing participants.
Welcome to Clemson. Hope you enjoy your trip.

Welcome to Clemson. I still remember several years ago partying at the Peach Bowl with LSU fans. We all had a blast together and I learned the Cajun Crawl and gave some Shag lessons at the Fan get together before the game. Good time were had by all. Hope we show you some good southern hospitality and that you enjoy yourselves. Tigertown is another good watering hole.

If you got some livvy dunnes with you were happy to have you join.
Seriously though a lot of us are in new lots this year because of construction; I've got no idea what to expect with my tailgate until I roll in on gameday. Just walk around and be friendly and you shouldn't have any trouble finding someone to invite you in.

The other recommendations I'd hit are TD's and TigerTown Tavern ("Triple T's"), both downtown. They are both great places that have been around forever and will give you a good feel for the town, and are downtown so there's a lot around.
Honestly (I'll probably get TD'd for this), I think the Esso is rather over-rated. It's what gets talked about because it's been there forever, but it's pretty much a run-down frat playground with nothing else around it. When I went to Clemson, I much preferred the downtown scene, but to each their own.

I never went to the Esso club when I was a student in the 80’s. Was it a bar in the 80’s?? We went to either Tiger town tavern or Crazy Zack’s (my favorite) because I liked R&B dance music.
