Syracuse was 8-5 last year which is respectable, but they were more than respectable towards the end of the season...they won their last four games of the season, including a 45-26 thrashing of #11 ranked Louisville(yes teddy bridgewater louisville); a close win over Missouri from the SEC; a stomping of Temple; and in their bowl game, a 38-14 thrashing of the Gino Smith-led West Virginia team that lit us up the year before.
The Cuse returns alot of players from last years team, and is not a team that will go down easy in the carrier dome(as Penn State will attest). Some may overlook the Cuse cuz they are 2-2, but their two losses were against top 20 teams in Penn St. and Northwestern and they are breaking in a new QB. They came pretty close to beating Penn State, and since the opening two losses have taken care of business.
This is a Cuse team that has alot of quality players returning, and they had a bi-week to prepare and focus solely on Clemson. It will also be a new environment for Clemson to head up and play in the Carrier dome...I think this is a huge test for Clemson, and hope they can find a way to win, especially considering the last time we played Syracuse they beat us 41-0.
Interesting tidbit::::Funny if you look at Clemsons schedule, just about everyone on their schedule has either a bi-week to prepare for Clemson, or play what most would consider a "patsy". Its actually kind of mind blowing:::::Here are the schedules of the ACC teams the week prior playing Clemson:1.N.C.St has a Bi! 2.Wake played Army! 3.Syracuse has a Bi! 4.Boston College plays Army! 5. Florida St. has a Bi!(rukiddingme?!?!) 6.Maryland plays Wake! 7.Virgina plays Georgia Tech(phew). 8.Georgia Tech has a Bi! So every ACC team that Clemson plays either has a Bi or plays what is considered an "easy" game for them, except for Virginia(who plays Georgia Tech).
I know this kind of thing doesn't make into into the "strength of schedule conversation, but it really should. *****Considering that every ACC team that plays Clemson has a Bi or a breather the week before Clemson(sans Virginia), and the fact that Clemson plays top ten programs in Georgia and South Carolina from the SEC, the Tigers schedule is pretty insane***** Its a good thing Clemson is becoming a team with much better depth, because they will need everyone to have a successful season considering the tough slate. If they manage to win a bunch of games this season, you can be rest assured they earned it. Oh Did is mention South Carolina plays Coastal Carolina the week prior to playing Clemson?...Basically every team on Clemsons schedule that is considered to be a threat has a Bi or a patsy before they play Clemson except for Virginia. This blows my mind!!!!! I hope Clemson doesn't get complascent, because everyones gonna be rdy to shoot them down...Heres to hoping the Tigers show a consistent and bulletproof work ethic, along with a mindset as tough as titanium...they have an opportunity to accomplish alot this season, but if they want to really enjoy this ride, they better stay on top of it as best they can.

Most teams with bye weeks prior to playing Clemson will add a few wrinkles to their offensive game plan, hoping to catch or throw Clemson defense off guard. As long as Clemson D-linemen play fast and across the line of scrimmage, they will cause a lot of confusion and create mishaps & misstakes for the opposing offenses. They are out of there norm when they goes away from their original play calling or playbook. If the defense play fast, play hard, and hit hard on every down during these games, they will disrupt the offense timing and cause many of them to make mistakes. Similar to what happen during the N.C.State game. The defense also has a chance to create turnovers and scoring opportunities for themselves aganist teams coming off a bye week, if they set the tone of the game while the offense is trying to find or get their timing down.

Here's the "other" side of your comments. SU starts a QB who has 2 college starts and wins against Tulane and Wagner, not exactly powerhouses. This QB has not seen the stuff that coach V will throw at him. Their secondary was decimated by northwestern and is poor by most people's analysis. The dome is loud but you forget that we use cards and non-verbal signals. SU is a very slow team compared to the Tigers. My bet is that Tajh will have field day as he decides which open receiver to throw to. They are not field tested in "big" games. We are plain and simple and that is a major advantage for. West Virgiia looked like they didn't want to we there in that bowl game. A disgusting performance on their. Have u seen Louisville play or film of a game? They're good but not in our league. If your point is we need to focus on business and take this team out early I agree but short of that I believe you are giving this SU far too much credit.

any poster says anything positive about SU you are right there to nip that in the buds. Hopefully we play a great game, secure a big victory but I'm not looking for a cakewalk.
