We Will Rock You

Oct 4, 2022, 9:52 AM

Who remembers when it was played after Deandre Mcdaniels sent Ponder to the moon??? One of the loudest craziest moments I remember in Death Valley. I personally love it when it’s played because thats where I go back to. Don’t get me wrong the new Valley is amazing but those come up years were just different we knew we were watching something special happen ????

We Will Rock You is a perfect song before our entrance. Keep rocking Tigers.

Deandre brought the lumber to Ponder on that interception return.

I always ask fans where Ponders arm is located just to see how long they’ve been on the train

In today's terms, that was an organic moment.

It may not have been the first time it was played in Death Valley, but it was certainly appropriate and had the engagement of all the Tiger fans in the stadium. When you can get an 85 years old lady singing and clapping along with the song, it was definitely a special, memorable moment. I witnessed that in the row in front of me.

Using it to start the games now is not necessarily organic since the song is quite ubiquitous and is overused in certain circumstances. However, it can be tied to Howard's Rock, and I like the correlation. I caught myself singing along this past Saturday, but I didn't go through the motions of stomping the feet then clapping in rhythm.

Otherwise, Queen is my favorite group of all time ... except that I hate they chose Adam Lambert to replace Freddie Mercury. He is flamboyant, but he cannot engage the audience like Freddie did. Vocally, there is no equal to Freddie, although Marc Martel gets very close.

(Sorry. That is probably more than you wanted in a response.)

I agree. The use of it during the entrance is kind of cliché

Agree. Queen’s the greatest rock band of all time. No one can replace Freddie Mercury. He’s legendary. I’m not the greatest fan of Lambert either but I don’t have any hate for him. I do respect that he doesn’t try to be Freddie, which would be sheer folly. But, Lambert just sounds too much like he’s singing Broadway show tunes.

I turned 6 the week before that and went to that game with my dad. Saw someone get arrested for the first time right where Gresette Hall is now and slept through the entire length of that game on a blanket in the stands.
