This year was a complete surprise to me. So, given that I have looked to next year as being a great year since Watson signed, who can say?

OL should be working like a machine. Offensive backfield should be great. While there are some questions re D, it is hard to imagine they will be poor. But the competition isn't likely to ease up. How well can next years people maintain focus and discipline? Will we suffer any coaching setbacks in the off season?

One game, one season at a time. Nice thought, but life doesn't deliver on everything . Dabo and staff still have work to do before we close the book on 2015! Enjoy the moment because despite all, nobody outside of the Lord knows what our future holds!

Go Tigers!

That would be scary...for the rest of the country. We will lose some great players but our offense could/should be even more explosive than this year and the Tigers are averaging something like 38 points a game. As yet undefeated, ACC player of the year, ACC coach of the year. Heisman finalist! It's all gravy from here! Go Tigers!

I would think we have no problems finishing and signing the class with our ranking .,
Will we get any suprises ????

I do think we broke the SEC charm on recruits ., They see now the ACC is as good as the SEC .,
The playoff path is better in the ACC ,.

While I am inclined to agree with you,the same case can be made for Ohio State. They lost very few major playmakers, and returned the bulk of both lines. The chemistry however was not the same with the QB revolving door, and losing Herman obviously made a difference. Still, I'm with you, on paper we are looking pretty good depending on who leaves early and replacing key starters on O Line.

We will only be losing MacLain and Gore. The rest will be back. And Jake will take over RT and Morris or Hearn at LG. If we lose Gallman we have capable back ups behind him. Remember Choice, and Fuller with Feaster coming on campus in July but that will probably hurt him due to the fact he will be 6 months behind the other Freshmen that come in. He will be in shape for sure with track, but depending on how quickly he can grasp the concept of our offense will be key.

I think we've seen that before with teams that won the title

Dec 10, 2015, 8:06 AM [ in reply to Re: We should be even BETTER next year...... ]

the previous year. The hunger just isn't there, and some of the team chemistry breaks down and is replaced by more "me first" stuff as the thoughts of some players turn more towards their future NFL career and less towards winning another college title.

It's possible that could happen to us next year, but i think it's fairly unlikely unless we win it all this year. And if that happens, well, I would find it hard to be upset if we sleep walk a little next year.

now we know that not only will Alexander and Lawson going pro, but Kearse, too.

We have capable backups, but that's a whole lot of talent and playmaking ability walking out the door. We will still be among the best in the country, but better than this year's team will be hard to do.

Agree, replacing secondary talent is much harder than

Dec 10, 2015, 7:34 AM

replacing D-line talent, IMO. A great secondary can help out a D-line by making the QB hold the ball. If the coverage is poor the ball will be gone no matter how quickly the D-line gets to the QB. So, replacing Mac and Kearse will be THE key to next year's success.

Have you watched the last 6 games? If so,how will it be hard to replace what Kearse has done?

I think Alexander is the only one that will really hurt and

Dec 10, 2015, 8:16 AM [ in reply to Would have agreed with this three days ago... ]

we've known for a long time he was a near certainty to leave early. Sure there will be a drop off from Lawson, but that's only 1 spot on the DL and we will get stronger everywhere else as the young guys mature. Collectively, the DL might be better next year. We lost 6/7 out of 8 guys off the DL after last year and still fielded a pretty darn good unit.

LB can only improve next year across the board.

The secondary might see a drop off, but that's because of Mack IMO. He's nearly irreplaceable, but I don't feel the same way about Kearse. Kearse is a good player and he's capable of making some plays that other guys just can't make, but he's also responsible for a lot of coverage busts. He's still really raw as a safety and he gets by mostly due his ridiculously size and athleticism.

Barring major injuries, we lose almost nothing of note offensively next season, and i really don't see any reason why the defense can't perform at a fairly similar level. On paper we should be just as good and probably even better next year, it's just a matter of winning the big road games at Auburn and FSU.

In my opinion the most under appreciated guy on the team is coming back next year. IMO TJ is the heart of the secondary, especially the 2nd half of the season. Straight baller that will lay the wood to someone.

Having Green and Wiggins will be very nice.

Dec 10, 2015, 9:26 PM

Hopefully Jadar Johnson or Van Smith steps up as well.

The secondary, depth especially, will make a huge difference as a poster already said. The DL will be even better and the LBs just need more depth to rest the starters. Special teams remain my biggest concern! The staff needs to find a punter and work on coverage/returns. Playing Allbarn FSU, Ga. Tech and BC away is never easy. I can see us being better, but the record being slightly worse if any injuries occur. One game at a time will prove critical as in 2015.

Go Tigers!

Remember Thunder and Lightning?

Dec 10, 2015, 7:50 AM

Gallman and Feaster will be T&L part deaux!

I can't remember what it was on but somewhere I heard

Dec 10, 2015, 9:52 PM

them talking about FSU and how they were gonna be the team to beat in the ACC because they were so young this year. I like it that we are not getting the respect because when this team has been counted out they play pissed off and knock the crap out of people
