Something doesn't add up....

Most of our defensive players were recruited by USuC as well as us, no USuC has a top 10 defense and our guys look like a flag football D. There is something deeper rooted than "a lack of talent". Danny Ford was public with his skepticism about employing a HUNH offense and it's effect on the D. He may be on to something. Just a thought.

They have have a far superior S&C staff, and are far superior at developing players.

Our offensive guys are beasts, so there is another disconnect.

Ahhh.... here we go. Surprised it took 4 games for someone to bring up the S&C program.

is that their secondary guys are bigger and look stronger that our guys.
Rashard Hall - tall, skinny Xavier Brewer - skinny Darius Robinson - short skinny Breeland - hes close to being the right side but still needs to bulk up a little bit. Even our LB's look like they need to get bigger and stronger...
I don't know if it's a recruiting thing or if we're not asking them to get stronger and add mass but that would help with those arm tackles. I just think Carolina puts more emphasis on their strength and conditioning because you can see it. I don't think it's just carolina but I do notice that we are more lean than muscular. Do they do that to keep them fast or what?
Rashard Hall is playing in his 3rd season and I don't think his body type has changed much at all.

How about taking a look at the rosters and comparing.
You also might consider that Clemson's defense was very good just two years ago, while USuCk's wasn't so good.

a combination of strength, speed, power AND very quick reaction time. Something is known by other teams that has not yet been discovered by us. Not sure what it is but even SC has it figured out. The comparitive muscle mass is far more advanced than ours. It all amounts to having energy to burn for all 4 quarters and the toughness to deliver and take hits.

No. 22 ARI - Zero Points, and it was never close.
Scoring like a pinball machine and the D is tough, hard nosed, and fast as well. Of course it's like year 5 or 6 in that system.

we're as bad in the first quarter as we are the last. No explosiveness up front. Poor angles on the back end. I think more than anything we are seeing youth in some places(Williams, Jarrett, Watson, Anthony, Blanks), a lack of athleticism in some(Goodman, Crawford), and a lack of football instinct in others(Robinson, Brewer, Christian). That all adds up to a poor defense. Solution: recruiting. Solution now:give the young guys a chance(Steward, Townsend, Davis, Barnes, Dood, etc)

The style of the offense has NOTHING to do with the defensive problems. Nobody expects the D to hold opponents to single digits. They score more, but so do you, so it's a wash.
Danny Ford was a great coach, but his teams' lack of offense cost Clemson two games every year. You combine the 2012 O with the late 80's D and Clemson is national champions about every other year. They'd give up more points, but win more games.

Ok then why can't the D stop anybody the first 3 or 4 possessions? There is no way in hell you can say the offense going out and scoring a TD in 3 plays before the D sees the field is the reason they gave up a TD right after that. I don't buy it. If the D could get 2 or 3 stops a half our O would have us up by 3 or more TDs at the half. The offense has nothing to do with the way our sorry ### D has played this year. It is an attitude issue not a talent issue. These guys have got to want to blow somebody up!

The defense has no fire, no killer instinct. Hey, I'm just searching for answers. I'm not buying the "no talent" talk. We recruit a lot of quality players who never seem to get better.
