Next year we are loaded on D except Safety and CB correct?

Shouldn't our defensive front 7 be as strong as the last 2 years? Offense will be video game numbers next year.

I agree. To summarize: db's could be scary, DL's scary good, and opposing D Coordinators on suicide watch.

At FSU should be the only questionable game.
At auburn to open may be tough but we should win pretty comfortably. We haven't won at GT since 2003, but we will kill them.

Louisville is a game that scares me. They return 18 starters. The freshman qb looked good in the bowl game. Good thing we have them at home

What does that mean, except for CB and safety?

That would be half the defense ...

No worries with Tank at one CB spot.

We play more nickel than 4-3 so it's 5 players total

But Tank is coming back, so that will help. As far as the nickelback spot goes, I'm not sure if Wiggins will be the starter there or not, but I think we will be fine at that position.

It is going to be like this year where there were questions as far as depth and guys stepping into larger roles but that is why you recruit. I figure you will have some sort of CB combination in Tank, Baker, Fields, Carter, Edmonds and Chalmers. As far as Safety I actually think that coverage will be better. I think Green and Kearse were more run support safeties. I think Johnson and Wiggins will be the starters with Van Smith, Jeffrie Gibson, Tanner Muse ( I am excited to see Muse, I think he is going to be big time) backing them up. So I think this defense has just as good of a chance to be as good or better if that front 7 is as advertised. Offense is just going to be scary good.....

Kearse almost singe handedly cost us that NCG but how much of that was poor coaching?
Saban's guys are great and ours need to be as good to see what they saw on our special teams. I am not saying our coaches aren't great though because they are and they are learning.
Kearse and Green had the tools but didn't end up being where they needed to be all night. Hopefully our staff grows up and fixes all our special teams weaknesses and secondary issues with our safeties this up and coming year. We have the boys. Aren't we TOO DEEP?

They are very talented. We have recruited well, but experience is tough to replace and losing 8+ defensive starters two years in a row is crazy. BV and the other defensive coaches have my trust. It's just hard to imagine us not suffering some at db. Like several have mentioned, hopefully our pass rush and DL push will take a ton of pressure off those guys as they gain some much needed snaps.

I'm actually not to worried about Safety. I think the combination of Jadar Johnson, Van Smith, Jeffrey Gibson and Tanner Muse provides quality talent and depth in the last line of defense. Mac Alexander will sorely be missed. You don't replace that ability. I think we have adequate replacements and depth but no one is in his league, but in their defense, who is.
