Speaking of diving, how does one become a diver?

I've never once even heard of a place where diving is available. You know, like for kids or teens to learn and practice.
As a follow up, if these places don't exist in America, how do other countries produce divers?
It's almost like a bunch of people just kind of show up at the Olympics representing countries that all can do impressive dives.
Now that I think about it....do they all come from that Red Bull cliff diving thing in Mexico that shows up on ESPN 7 now and again?

of all divers coming from the same remote section of mountains in Mexico where they all practiced buddhism, smoked weed, and hid from the Sinaloa Cartel while jumping off of cliffs over and over and over all starting at the age of like 3 yrs old.

Outside of towns with University dive teams I don't know

that they exist. There is an age group dive team in Clemson that practices at Fike and several Clemson divers are usually helping coach and stuff. Same was the case at USC.

I mean, who even THOUGHT that would be a fun and rewarding "sport" to do.
"I am the Olympic champion world record fastest walker." -- guaranteed gets you ZERO tail. You look freaking disabled doing it.

I'm pretty sure it's common in mid-size/large cities.
We have a pretty nice aquatics center with a full diving tank, etc...

had ADHD so bad his behavior was like a crack-addled howler monkey most days. Anyway, he goes out for swim team and does alright til he gets bored. This is where the diving board comes in...one day at practice he decides swimming sux and he starts jumping off the 3m board. He's doing flips and twists and smacking the water like a car mat. Somehow he gets a double flip down after about the 100th attempt. Swim coach works with him til about 9 that night, next week sets him up with a dive coach, a couple of years later diving scholly.

No water polo or men's volleyball (though that did happen a few years after I graduated).
So there you go. You have to be from California or have attended my high school to be a US diver.
