The way I see it after Dabo's emotions were on display yesterday...

He's not going to retire. Clemson won't fire their best coach in history by a country mile.
Either get on board with what he's doing or check out. There's really no in between. Everything else is just hot air.
Do I agree with everything he's doing? Not at all, but it's what we got.
Go Tigers!

AS I keep saying, he is Clemson's version of Joe Paterno. As long as the program remains profitable they will never get rid of him. Dabo could muddle along with mediocre seasons indefinitely.

Let’s be clear about one thing, he is NOTHING like Joe Paterno…

When I was at Clemson back in the dark ages, we had a big tight end from Pennsylvania who told me a Joe Paterno story I never forgot. On his recruiting trip to Penn State, he was hosted by their All American tight end named Ted Kwalik. Kwalik told Neil: "Whatever you do, don't come here. Paterno is a 2-faced s.o.b. and is nothing like what he shows the public.....just take my word for it." It took a few years, but the world found out that Ted Kwalik was right in his assessment!

The comparison clearly wasn't based on morality or character.

The point was that Joe Paterno was good for Penn State football, whether they were contending for national championships or not.
He was also a longtime coach who had won a national championship, but had seen his teams' performance fall off in recent seasons - much like we are seeing with Dabo.

If you want a true comparison and for folks to take you seriously, it's more like Bobby Bowden.
Joe Pa was a 2 faced predator hiding scumbag.
Bowden got a bit older and a little lazy on the recruiting side, which led to a fall off but is still a college football legend and is remembered fondly for his total body of work on and off the field. Came up humble and stayed humble through his life. Sure he might have spared the rod for those guys getting free stuff from Belk but in the grand scheme of things thats not that bad compared to the coverups / looking the other way like Urban/Joe Pa had.
Bowden got old and lost the fire, I can see that a bit in Dabo.
Joe Pa was crapping himself on the field and ruined his legacy for off field "looking the other way" in the face of evil all on his own. I never want any comparison between him and Dabo.

Wish we could apply that logic to the country...Trump is the president. Get on board or check out.
Board melt down in 3...2...1...

Anytime the heat is turned up a notch with questions and comments at pressers he threatens to leave. We all know this by now.

What's crazy is that Dabo's tantrum yesterday was not even a response

to the question asked.
He clearly decided ahead of time that he had his undies in a bunch and was determined to go on his rant regardless.

2030 will be very interesting. A 4-8 / 5-7 season won’t be accepted anymore.
I do believe he’s safe as long as we’re in the ACC. I mean look at the next three games. It’s not like at Florida or Oklahoma where it’s just back to back tough tough games.
So yes, we’ll continue to win 8 or more games because we’re in the ACC.

which is why he's able to throw the "fans are ungrateful for 9-10 win seasons" out there constantly in the pressers the last 5 year downfall............OOC Power conference record is bad the last half decade.

I agree. A lot of change will on the horizon for Clemson when that time comes and it might just include a new coach.

I think he wants to be at Clemson and I think most Clemson people want him here.

Dabo wants to figure things out and make us an elite program again. We as fans certainly want that too.
But at some point, Dabo's two national championships become less of a factor in evaluating his employment. The farther away those elite years get, and the more we drift toward being a second tier program, the more Clemson administrators and fans will understandably start to question the job he is doing.
Is Dabo going to be fired this year, even if we have a bad year? No. Nor should he be.
But if we keep trending the way we are, the pressure to either force Dabo to make some changes, or talk of letting him go, will become very real.
Clemson people are kind and patient, but we are not stupid. Dabo is not justifying his $11 million salary, and he hasn't for a few years. At some point, it will be time to extend him. I would hope that if we are continuing our slide, our AD and BOT will have the balls to stand up to Dabo and let him know that Clemson expects better.
Based on Dabo's comments yesterday, as well as in the past, I don't know if his ego will allow him to be told anything that borders on criticism or displeasure. Remember, he has never failed at anything in life.

The concern for most of his supporters, and yes I am one of his supporters, is that when the temperature goes up on lack of performance to expectations, the “I will go somewhere else “ card comes out. It’s just an unfortunate reality. I would rather he say nothing than pull this out. Third time in four years. Remember, preseason had this team at #4. Along with the media, coaches and players raised everyone’s expectations. Unfortunately, to date we are far short of meeting those expectations. Lots of season left to play.
Go Tigers!
