Projected current BCS Standings...1 week before Official

Oct 13, 2013, 7:29 PM

I have started to tabulate a projected BCS Standing from the known information provided thus far. I have all the current info for the 2 Human polls (USA/Harris) and 4 of the 5 current computer polls (missing current Anderson/Hester, but using last week's). The last computer poll (Wolfe) won't be announced until next week.

Well... here are the current projected Top-10 standings:

1) Alabama
2) Oregon
3) CLEMSON
4) Florida St.
5) Ohio State
6) LSU
7) Texas A&M
8) UCLA
9) Louisville
10) Stanford

Notes... #10 could be Baylor if Stanford's computer drops a little bit more. The 2 BCS spoilers: Fresno State (19) and Northern Illinois (21) are still a few spots outside the BCS buster spot.

Alabama and Oregon have a really good strong hold on the 1 and 2 spots. The winner of this week's CLEMSON vs. Florida State matchup will have a solid hold on the #3 spot awaiting for either team above to trip up. Ohio State will then move into the #4 spot after next week when the game is decided. What holds OSU back is their weaker computer ratings to offset the #3/4 human polls. After those 5 teams it really starts to drop off in ranking.

So, if Clemson, Oregon, and Alabama all go undefeated, we

definitely jump ahead of Oregon at some point . . . right?

With wins over FSU, SC, and Miami we might. Oregon has

#9 UCLA, @#13 Stanford, and then Pac 12 title game which could be a UCLA rematch.

That schedule isn't quite as strong as ours, but it's fairly close. It would all depend on what the human voters did. If we don't jump Oregon in the human polls, we are unlikely to pass them in the BCS.

a dumb question, as if it was a given that we will pass Oregon in that scenario. Almost all thought, with a great deal of certainty, that we would. I certainly think we should, but would not be shocked if we did not.

After a FSU win it would be close. After a top 15 SCAR win probably. After a top 15 Miami win in the ACCCG definitely.

We definately narrow the gap between Oregon and us...

Oregon is approximately about a .95 rating. CLEMSON is about a .89 rating currently. Oregon's computers are slightly better than ours at .95 to .90 but their human polls are much stronger.

If all three run the table, unfortunately I don't quite see us passing Oregon because of the human vote will keep Oregon ahead. But you never know...

Our game vs. Florida State will tell a lot. Oregon's game in a few weeks vs. Stanford will decide more.

Unfortunately, unless BAMA has a complete mental flatuation, they will be in the BCS NC game. I just don't see them losing to Florida or Mizzou, who are currently the likely suspects to play them in the SEC CG.

A Clemson Beating of FSU Will Jump Them In Human Polls
