Charleston people.

I just drove into Charleston from Wilmington and I was arriving through 17 in Mt. P. How do you guys deal with that traffic? It feels like Southern California. There was even an ambulance even stuck in the traffic with no room for people to get out of the way. Just gridlock. I will never complain about Wilmington traffic again.

We complain about it to people from Atlanta

and they tell us to shut up and say we don't what traffic really is.
The benefit is that we don't have to go home to Alpharetta at the end of the day.

Today, a car came down my road and we had to move the folding chairs so this prick could get around the coolers and tailgate tent. It's like you can't have a party in the middle of the street anymore because of a car. He was going like 25-30 miles an hour...what if we'd be out there playing hacky sack or tossing some disc???

slightly not as bad.
Growing up the rule of thumb was if you had to cross 2 bridges, it was too far away to deal with.
Now, it's usually a 1 bridge limit for me unless special circumstances are involved.

James Island rush hour is a nightmare
Apr 2, 2021, 2:26 PM

I used to drive to the end of the connector, hang a right onto Folly Rd., and then hang another right onto Harbor View just to avoid that right turn lane/exit onto Harbor View.
Why EVERYONE on the connector slows down (even the left lane) for that Harbor View exit is something that paleontologists will research for decades.

I lived off Harborview for five years, the only reason that whole road backs up onto the connector is the failing of people to understand how to execute a zipper merge where those two lanes become one.
Charleston may well have the largest population and percentage of terrible drivers of any city on the planet.

was right on Harbor View Circle, which is like 100 FEET from where that 2 land merge becomes one. That's where my tent-dwelling days originated. Brutal.

Ugh brutal. Sure was a nice ride in to downtown in the early morning though, only one stoplight right at Dills Bluff & Camp rd between me and the parking lot at the bottom of the connector

Camp road can become nearly impassable at times. Harborview afternoon traffic was tough, but I’d waaaaay rather sit through that than 17N in mtp

I’m excited to be close enough to CHS to go down for dinner every now and then, but it may be faster to come down by boat on the waterway than having to cover all of 17 through mt p to get downtown.

I do not miss how much easier day to day life is up here. Back when I was a commuter I had no shortage of ways to get home. Know about a problem? Just try some other way.

And try to plan your schedule around it the best you can.
A small price to pay to live a few minutes from the beach and a great scene.
There are also several ways to navigate Mt. P without going 17 or Coleman the full way. Now, if you have cross a bridge and shit's backed up, oh well.
Also, when you visit people here, please do not ask them to take you to the Yorktown, Ft. Sumter, or Hyman's Seafood. Common courtesy.
