Pittsburgh or Louisville for UGA, horrible!
This combined with the recent news that the Northern school want to play Fri night games is disgusting for Clemson football fans. So done with the ACC.

too bad they feel they have our money regardless and do what ever they want to the fans. I hope we keep the game but you can just see cancellation coming with the unnecessary 9 conf game idiocy

Georgia is one of Clemson's classic rivals that we haven't had the fortunes of playing recently. Was always a fun game, and I was really looking foward to playing it.
It took a while, but I've finally accepted the fact that Pitt and Syracuse are now in the ACC. However, games with Georgia, Auburn, etc. were bright spots. But for God's Sake, don't make me crawl through the mud......

This is a disappointment. Really. Dropping Georgia? Clemson needs to find a home that will not ruin college football.

Clemson UGA should play EVERY year.
Its not like we added a ton of strength to the ACC with Pitt and Syracuse.

I can sort of see an argument for either. If you want strength of schedule, keep UGA, so we play the two most likely prominent teams in the SEC East. If you want secure wins though, and wanna pad that record, sure, let them go, but I'd rather take quality wins.

What a load of crap. If we cancel the series with GA so we can play the likes of Pitt or Syracuse, I would say the majority of Clemson fans will be pretty disappointed. ACC expansion has not helped make football any more exciting. It looks like we will lose a great OOC matchup every year so we can play even more nobodies than we already do.

Some of the best games we ever played were against Georgia. The rivalry has always been there. Still is. Play the game please.

by reducing my contributions and support. This has been true through Tommy Bowden, through Dabo, through losing seasons, through everything... I have never even thought about reducing my support. But if Clemson cancels the series with Georgia then I will take action against the Athletic Deparment.

reducing my support. The last one we lost 30-0. I didn't even call for Bowden to be fired, much less considered reducing support.
But... like I siad... if we cancel this long overdue series, I will take action.

With the addition of Pitt and Cuse and the league going to a nine game conference schedule, there is a very strong likelihood that the series with UGa among others (Ole Miss and Oklahoma State) will get cancelled.

Yet another boneheaded decision-- this one to adopt a completely unnecessary 9th conference game!
Swofford for President.
What a joke.

so as to insure that Clemson will have at least seven (7) home games each season. At the end of the day, that's what it all boils down to.

so eager to say "ok, well I guess that justifies it."
That's bull####. We should not accept it. Fans are the reason college football exists. Do you really want to pay more for something that you want less? Do you really think it is impossible for AD's to realize it may be in their best interest to keep series like that? What the heck ever happened to supply and demand? The demand part is suddenly automatic?

I'm telling you the reality of the situation....
Mar 7, 2012, 2:38 PM
|

The Athletic Department relies heavily on the revenue generated from the seven home games anually. If Clemson can still be guaranteed seven home games in 2014 when the return trip to Georgia is schedule, the game will likely be played. Otherwise, the series will likely get cancelled.

"reality." It is a poor, short-sighted decision. "Reality" is that there are viable options that people are ignoring. This whole attitude that it's a given that keeping 7 home games (at all costs) is a sound financial decision is only definately true for the short term.
People need to shake loose of this status-quo dominated thinking.

playing Georgia for Syracuse. It makes perfect sense. Syracuse is 1000 miles away, it's inside on astroturf, and the gameday atmosphere there rivals, oh I don't know, maybe Kent State. And just think of the recruiting edge we'll gain in Upstate New York because of that game instead of making more inroads in Georgia. I'm sure the high school kids from SC, NC and Florida are STOKED about joining a team that gets to play Syracuse instead of Georgia as well.
What a load of #### this conference is turning into.

Anyone that has ever considered CLEMSON moving to the SEC someday should be in favor of a CLEMSON-UGA game. Do NOT cancel it. If you're worried about SOS - then don't even consider moving to the SEC. You'd play a team like UGA every week (almost).
KEEP THE DANG GAME PLEASE!
