We are open to any conference contacting us

May 25, 2012, 10:43 AM

This statement says a ton! It is obvious that Clemson is ready to do something, and the ACC isn't it. If Clemson was 100% committed to the ACC, then the statement would have been "We're happy in the ACC and not interested in any conversations or offers"

The ACC house's foundation has been shaken by FSU and CU, and the house will eventually fall.

or FSU/CU may be exerting power within the ACC

might be a shot across ACC office bow. Either Swafford goes or we go. Either we change the ACC from within, or from without, but it WILL change.

I wouldn't mind if Clemson stayed in the ACC. I would like to see new leadership, more focus on improving ACC football and making it the (or one of the) elite football conference(s) in the country.

If that doesn't happen, I don't think it's in Clemson's best interest to remain in the ACC. The University (and town of Clemson) have too much to lose by not being regarded as one of the premiere venues for college football.

Having said that, I think Clemson is a better fit for the SEC. I would love to see college football conferences reconfigured based on geography. I think some of the recent additions/subtractions of Universities to conferences are based purely on adding money to the conference, (by adding teams) but will end up costing the fan bases in travel expenses. (or will reduce attendance for certain away games)

This issue concerns me with all the talk of Clemson potentially joining the Big 12. Although I would love to play Texas, OU, etc., I would prefer that Clemson join the SEC and add them as an out of conference game(s). The expenses for attending away games would be too much for many if Clemson joined the Big 12 IMO.
