gives their athletes as much academic help as Clemson does via Vickery. If an athelte is academically ineligible, its bc hes not truly giving his best. I know Im about to get blasted for saying that, but its the truth. Dont think that every one of these guys walks on water and lives to only play FB and studies every hour hes not on the field of play. This is a kid who was suspended already for the bowl game. He was accused of not working as hard as he shouldve during the season which was reflected by his lack of PT. Its very possible with his past lack of effort that he just didnt try as hard as he shouldve. Being suspended doesnt always get the attention of a kid bc hes still part of the team. Maybe this will really shock him into changing his ways. I hope so for his sake. Best of luck to the kid.

The student athlete has to "try"...... Bellamy gave up on Clemson. Costly....Don't think so. Can you say fumble?

Why? What really has the kid offered? At some point these young men have to become MEN.

Great point cause it is the truth. They do everything they can to help our student athletes be successful in class. Wish the freshman students who aren't athletes got half that amount of help.

Yeah no kidding. I walked on for a year until I hurt my arm. After that I was just a regular student so I didnt get all that help. Big difference in the attention youre paid when youre an athlete versus a regular student. But I dont think its unfair for these guys to receive that kind of attention. Not many people can understand how much time you put in between weights, required studying, practice, and film study. Athetes fullfill a big service for our school. Clemson gets a lot of attention when they perform well, and makes a lot of money for the University.

I don't know if he was trying or not, or going to class. But if a kid is in trouble with class work you make them go to mandatory study hall and etc. Maybe something else is going on that we don't know about.

He has to want it for himself. If he can't do something as simple as not fail out of school, we do not need him on the team.

of mandatory studying by athletes. You were monitored until you got your time in. They had student-employees go by classes to check you off and make sure you attended classes. It may have just been a case of him not doing his work to the best of his ability. Clemson does everything but take your tests when youre an athlete.

I believe Bellamy is a good person but just immature. In a few years he'll get drafted and have a chance to do something. I hope this humbles and motivates him to do better.

You let him flunk out b/c you did things the right way..What do u suggest, we let him take 18 hours of basket weaving and get him 12 tutors for that? It would have been more of a disgrace if he received a CU degree.

He was given his chances. He was a highly rated recruit out of high school who would have been babied at most other schools. Dabo held him accountable, as he does the team, and he failed. Hopefully he will realize what he has lost, learn from his mistakes, and make something out of himself and this situation. Otherwise he will be another forgotten 5* recruit who turned out to be a bust. Best of luck to him.

I definitely agree, schools that care about winning do what it takes to keep their best athletes on the field.
