When I was in school Clemson chose Auburn for homecoming one year ... that was a big mistake!

marquee game... no matter if the game will be over before halftime. by then, the tix will be paid for and no refunds allowed, concessions will have made their budget by the end of the 1st quarter and their revenue for the day will have set records...
the AD and Chancellor/President will look like geniuses to the board...

Yes, I was shocked to see us being Syracuse's homecoming game so early in the season.
Looks like some good bulletin board material to me. I predict we will crush them this year.

Yeah but it is nawthern New York. Our game is 9/14 and winter sets in 9/21, so it is the last week of "fall" for them.

I never really understood the tradition of picking a somewhat sure win for Homecoming. Is it really more important to win the homecoming game as any other game? And if so, why?

Surely it's understood that alumni are the biggest donors to your school, and you want the alumni to have as great time at homecoming. What better way to have a good time than with a victory.

I had forgotten about that game. It was like 44-0 and Heisman winner Pat Sullivan sat out the second half.

Sullivan to Beasley. Wasn't Sullivan the Heisman winner that year. We've have quite a few Heisman winners play in Death Valley.
