Watching the RBs in the GT game

Sep 7, 2022, 8:25 PM

I thought Mafah was the best back of the group. consistently gaining over 3-4 yards. Shipley looked great in a pass catching role, but I think Mafah should get the 1st caries next game

All three backs are talented and can be used in different roles. I thought Mafah (Mopup) looked exactly like the back I want with the ball in the 4th quarter. Shipley and Pace are great early on with their speed and pass catching abilities.

The Tigers have a great group of RB’s!

Go Tigers!

Shipley knows how to take it in. Pace possibly the fastest. Mafah is a sledgehammer. He punishes opposing tacklers. I like all three. With a little more help from the Oline, these guys can be tremendous.

The rpo’s aren’t helping the running game. Too slow. We just need to call a straight run and commit everyone to it once in a while. The line does open a hole here and there, but they take 4 seconds to hit it.

DJ and Streeter run the Offense in slow motion

Sep 7, 2022, 9:09 PM

It's almost like "run" or "pass is announced over a loud speaker before the play. And the pump fakes do not confuse anyone - unsure if pump fakes are coming from Streeter or QB's, but both DJ & Cade had slow pump fakes giving the Defense more time.

With old Rodney Williams, you never knew who had the ball.

Oops. This was supposed to be in the thread about RPO vs. Zone Read.

Huh? He caught a shovel pass…or did I watch a different game?

I entirely agree. I like all three of our backs. But Shipley is just an all around talented player, not a pure running back (I kind of like the idea of moving around the field). Mafah is like a UGA or Alabama running back, which I don't remember Clemson having in my recent memory (James Davis had some qualities, but wasn't as much of a bulldozer as Mafah). Pace is an NFL running back and is shifty, but I do think he's the weakest of the three.
