Watched the 2018 Louisville Game

Nov 5, 2021, 11:30 PM

Some observations:

1) I forgot how dominant our edge rushers were. XT, Murphy and co are very good, but Bryant and Ferrell were just huge, domineering men and just explosively fast and aggressive. We absolutely thrashed their o-line the whole game. I started to just feel bad for Louisville (the game ended up being like 76-17 or something)

2) Our elite RB play. ET was just next level. And Choice had a great run as well. We had so, so many huge chunk plays.

3) Our O-line looked completely different than it does right now. They looked elite in that game. Opened up some beautiful holes for our backs to just explode through. Pass pro was fantastic.

4) QB play. Lawrence wasn't necessarily tearing it up with passing yards as our running game was going so strong, but I forgot how quick his release was. Man, he just darted it out there. Was nice to see our screen game actually work again.

Observation( just need 1); So maybe we can convince Louisville to just replay the tape from the 2018 game ,and people won't notice all of those changes that you pointed out, none of which matter since this is 2021,not 2018.

Sharing your D-Line "dominant" comment.

To make it even more impressive, the 2018 Louisville O-Line had 3 seniors and true soph RT Mekhi Becton (who is now a OT in the NFL). This was a good opposing O-Line, and we beat them like a rented mule.

Of course, the 2018 Clemson defense was not just arguably the finest overall defense to play at Clemson, but also arguably the finest defense to ever play college football.

(Waiting for the TNet posters to call me delusional [or worse] for the second part of my post.)

If our offense would cut down on simple mistakes, we would have ran away with this game. Our mistakes put our offense in bad positions, if we just played clean we would win easily.

It’s frustrating how close we are to dominating the games. As Dabo would say, Do your job! Our offensive line hardly ever gets away with holding while every team we have played this season has held our defense the whole game.
