Honestly I won't be surprised when Jack starts Gossett in our loser-game. Then Schmidt or Long will get embarrassed in game 3. You have to start your best pitcher game 1 when you're starting a tournament in the bottom half of the seeding. If we started as a higher seed, then this would be a different story.

I don't see why we'd suddenly change that in the NCAAT. It's not like Crownover is some crappy pitcher who we don't trust to help us win a game against good competition.

We don't play the same team 3 days in a row. When you're in the bottom half of seeding, you have to do everything possible to having to fight your way through the losers bracket. Gossett > Crownover regardless of "who our Friday starter is". This shows ignorance on Leggett's part that he's treating our rotation as any other weekend series against a Duke or Maryland.

Nobody would've thought Crownover would be as bad as he was today. It's not like Crownover is so much worse than Gossett that it would be ridiculous to expect him to beat a team like Oregon that is so prone to the K and which didn't have a very high batting average.
I don't see how you could question having confidence in Crownover to win this game.

Leggett should save Gossett for a potential game 3. If Clemson can't beat Xavier without Gossett, Clemson does not deserve a game 3. Gossett should have started today.

Long or Schmidt might have a chance to beat a weaker team like Xavier. But if Gossett pitches, Long/Schmidt will get destroyed by Oregon or Vandy. If Gossett goes tomorrow, we go 1-2 in the postseason, BEST case scenario. If we save up Gossett then we have a fighting chance, even though it's slim.
