Who was the last out of nowhere signing

A guy who wasn’t even mentioned but ended up signing with Clemson on signing day and shocked everyone. I really don’t remember any under Coach Swinney he doesn’t really operate that way so I doubt we’ll see any in the future

That’s all I can think of, but that was more situational that “out of nowhere”

Nobody knew who Kaleb Boeteng was until the night before signing day last year.

T.J. Green was kind of out of nowhere. He was lightly recruited as a 2 star, and there had been little to no mention of him before signing day. The big shocker of the 80's was probably John Johnson who was considered a Georgia lock and firm commit.
On the flip side during the Bowden era, we were Gronked when Rob picked Arizona. Mike McIntosh is another one that comes to mind, as he flipped to Fla. on signing day.
The Etienne situation has affected a lot of guys. If the staff had not backed off of Cordarrian Richardson, then Tavien Feaster probably finishes his career as a Tiger with the highest YPC of any Clemson back.

John Johnson coming was not a surprise to me. I was roommates with a recruiter in the mid-80s. He told me Johnson was coming weeks before he signed, and had no doubt about it. He publicly committed to Georgia so people in Georgia would leave him alone.

As I remember he had been committed to Georgia for some time but was wavering on his decision the weekend before signing day. Then on Monday night he reconfirmed his decision to sign with the Dogs, on Wednesday signed with us. Feel free to correct my details but that's the gist of it.
