Money isn't his biggest concern

http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/feature/25110905/marshalls-plan
"One place, and I don't want to say which place, but one place offered me so much money and I basically just told them, 'I don't care how much money there is; that money won't help me sleep when I'm losing,'" Marshall said. "Winning is what I really like to do. I'm fine financially. My drug is winning."
Would Marshall, theoretically, like to bang heads with a Mike Krzyzewski or John Calipari?
Sure.
He's a competitor at his core.
But he'll never take a historically average job relative to its league just to do it.
"The only way I'd leave for [a power-conference] job would be if I had an opportunity to fight on solid ground," Marshall said. "I would want to fight on equal footing."
Translation: Don't call unless you're an AD with one of the best programs in whatever league you reside -- like Wichita State is in the MVC. Otherwise, you're wasting everybody's time.

There's just so much good that facilities can do. I totally understand Marshall's line of thinking, but he's talking like he is already a top-notch perennial final-4 type coach. I don't know if he's quite there yet. It will be interesting to see how much longer he stays at Wich St.
One good coach who surprises and surpasses expectations can change a program from the sort that Marshall wants to avoid into one that looks like a good opportunity. If we had gotten him when Purnell left, maybe we would be the ones playing in the Sweet 16 this year instead of the Shockers.

I think he can recruit as many Juco's as he wants as well in addition to all the other perks.

Marshall would be taking a step back to come to CU. He has a better job at Wichita State.
Plus, he would rather be a Coot than a Tiger. The Coots are the ones who really messed up by not going after him.

You insult someone for offering their opinion and yet you offer no definitive take of your own. What exactly do YOU think?
- Is Brownell as good a coach as Marshall or Smart? or
- Is Shaka Smart a fraud in your opinion?
- None of the above, and you really think that _____________________________________________.
Respond with your take or don't even bother criticizing someone else's.

Smiling Tiger's opinion is actually usually very level and realistic.
We both want more out of Brownell but he doesn't have the facilities or support.
What I dislike is people vocally dumping Brownell but the only names they can muster are Marshall, Smart, or another pipe dream coach.
Dumpers like him think any successful mid major coach are jumping ship the first chance they get at a mid tier program in the best basketball conference yet fet no support from admin and fans.
We may love Clemson and think it's special, but we are not that attractice of a job. Especially when you fire a coach that keeps a football school in the middle of the pack of the ACC every year.

I think Marshall has made it pretty clear that he is not coming to Clemson. Or Carolina either for that matter. He wants to go somewhere where he can win. I'd say look out for Texas if Barnes is gone.

Interesting. Does this imply that BB will actually start winning?
Sounds like a pipe dream to me. Exactly how is BB going to start winning? I sure don't see it. But I'm no BBall expert, so maybe it's in plain sight and I just can't see it.
