Ridiculous to have a scoreboard bigger in size than square area

of the once infamous & beloved "The HILL"..
which in reality is nothing more than a glorified Bank but with some rarified history built upon it since it's reputed to be part of the greatest umpteen seconds of a football team's entry into the stadium to do battle with the Bad guys.
Saying, a small scoreboard does the ample job of telling the crowd the main stat needed..are we losing or winning, and by how much.
Oh sure, a clock and a downs indicator would be great add-ons..and a bit of entertainment should be an added attraction..
such as a Tiger that wags its head & tail and growls to delight the kids. Bingo, we've had that and more thru 2021 since we even had a huge screen that showed reruns of plays that we had actually seen seconds b/4 with our own eyes..plus we could see ads and other pertinent Clemson info. What a marvel!
But folks, having a scoreboard that overpowers a great view of a lovely campus and uses flashing & hypnotic lights to entertain us while the subjects we came to cheer for are fighting below us versus the Bad Guys is RIDICULOUS!
Hello to copying the SEC stadium's scoreboards (Auburn got theirs in 2008) and thus our Death Valley stadium will be the equal & envy of any Roman coliseum an Emperor ever built.
Saying, Tigertown Clemson has made it bigtime..bring on the modern LED flashing hypnotic show board of entertainment..
as a sure backup to watch if the Clemson teams in the future, w/o Dabo, should ever go back to having 8-4 or heaven forbid 6-6 records and aren't worth watching..
we can be totally entertained without them since we have that mega-throne beast with an even larger newer version Tiger that wags, lights up and Growls.
Congrats, play Ball!
PS: Is this a tongue-in-check observation Or my true feelings? Probably 50/50~

ways to spend it all. While excessive in size, I can't think of any other AD related investment that would be better for Clemson.

I was thinking along the same lines. It's an unfortunate arms race. And the expense is ridiculous. Everyone, in their personal life, has this line that they won't cross when buying stuff. And that changes as we age. Maybe you started out buying a bus ticket, but your financial situation and taste allows you to fly in first class on Delta today. It feels like what Clemson is doing is the equivalent of buying a new Gulfstream G5 every year.
I get that we have that much money flowing into the system. Still though, it feels wasteful when ticket prices continue to soar.

You're right that WE can be entertained with much less, but the younger generation is all about the graphics and music. You just have to accept what the next generation wants... not like it, but accept it. As Rocky told Apollo Creed, "Keep on punching Apollo".

more stadium lighting. The stadium lighting is weak and dim, and there are only 4 sets at the corners, and they don't do the job. You "half-see" the game at night. Coots stadium actually better lit, better lighting, and I thought I'd never say anything positive about their stadium or program.

It’s just about brand and marketing. To the younger fans, to the TV market, and to current and future recruits.
No, not necessary. But you have to keep up to continue the competition inside the competition. Likewise with our new academic buildings and for the same reasons. Leaders in their fields can and do demand not only salary, but facilities. Clemson competes in all areas.
But SOUTH CAROLINIANS, by and large, are content with cracked and unmowed highways, crumbling schools, decrepit and dated politicians, Sheriff Buford T Justice law enforcement, and fried food. Big video board = too much and too far.

Yes it will. Imo, LBB can correct me, he layed out all the comments that's been posted and then he ends it saying how great it is and Clemson is big time. Actually a compliment... Unless you just read the first paragraph and make assumptions. That's all.

waters that have obviously destroyed Judge Keller? Unlike you to start spouting negativity, especially when we are less than a week away from the start of football season. The big new scoreboard is a shiny toy, to be sure, but Clemson has proven they belong with the Big Boys of College Football, and deserve the same Big Boy Toys.
