VT hasn't played anyone. When time to play them, itll

Sep 17, 2017, 2:38 PM

Be hard to gauge whether they r good or average. I expect them to be more so on the road but just don't have enough info. Anyone know who all they lost?

I know BC is next but I don't see them as the next stiffest test. Although we still have to respect them. It is college ball and anything can happen.

West Virginia is a real opponent.

VT is well-coached and a good football team. They will not be easy to beat in Lane stadium.

That said, Clemson will win. But that is because Clemson is Clemson, not because VT is average.

Have watched them play 2 games---WVU and ECU. They lost their QB from last year-Jarrod Evans but the kid who replaced him is VERY good---his last name is Jackson. If our secondary play continues to leave receivers open, then Jackson and VT will have a field day. He is an extremely accurate passer and has a couple of excellent wide receivers--Cam Phillips being one of them. Our secondary IS and has been our weakness FOREVER. VT has a very good chance of winning the game.

LOL What game where you watching? Our first unit and mostly second unit covered very well against Jackson and Louisville. They also covered very well against Auburn. VT hasn't played a defense with a pulse yet, certainly nothing like Clemson's. I wouldn't be knocking the secondary as you are off base on this one. Sounds more like a coot troll than a Tiger fan.

WVU isn't a bad team

They're deserving of a top 25 rank.

They will play us close for 3 quarters but we should win by 10+

I disagree

Tech has a good club and their head coach has them on an upward path. However, they are short of talent - on both lines and in their secondary. Their defensive line is small. They haven't seen a team with the size and speed of Clemson.

Playing in Blacksburg is always tough, and they will give us a game, but we win comfortably. Even the Tech fans know that they are outmatched.

I have confidence Clemson will win, but not looking for VT to be a pushover. what I really like is the growth I perceive w offense. another few weeks and they should be still better.

The D line isn't small really.. The starters on the interior are Tim Settle and Ricky Walker. Settle is 6'3 330 lbs and Walker is 6'2 300 lbs.. Vinny Mihota at one end is 6'5 270lbs. The other end, Trevon Hill is listed at 6'3 245... The backup ends basically all similar height/weight to Hill.

The real issue with the D line is inexperience behind those starters, really across the board. They have some talented guys in the 2 deep just not a lot of playing experience.

As for the secondary... not sure how they're short on talent. Greg Stroman, Adonis Alexander, Brandon Facyson, Mook Reynolds have all played a lot of snaps for VT and really should be the strength of the D throughout the season. Reggie Floyd is a new starter at the safety position but he is played well so far this season.

Settle was a guy Dabo really wanted , but he went to Blacksburg. He's very talented . I don't ever anticipate an easy game when playing the Hoies , but right now it seems lile Clemson is just on a different level than VT , with all due respect .

I think we win by 10-15 pts and the game is never in doubt by the middle of the 3rd quarter .
Call it 30-17 Tigers .
