We are doomed. If we keep taking these 4-5 star recruits out of state, we have no chance down the road with in state coaches. The angry little Boomer will steal all instate 3 stars and they will be motivated to beat us.
Boys, we need to correct this immediately and stop stockpiling all this out of state talent for it's too late.

I read that thread yesterday. Let me tell what it reminded

me of.
Remember the BC State game where the announcers were going on and on, and on ,about NCS taking back the state in recruiting. Even going as far as showing all the plaques on the stadium wall of all the NC State high schools they visited. GREAT TV , right. What happened when NC had a 5 star number 2 p[layer in the country ? Yeah, Clemson came in and got him.
To quote Hood's thread from yesterday, Clemson is at the point where they Cherry Pick who they want and Chump is offering everyone with a pulse. That quote came from a high school coach, the lifeline of recruiting.

Those idiots would jerk off to getting the 4 and 5 star players we are getting from out of state.

If Clemson or USuck simply relied upon in-state talent neither team would amount to much. While Muscrap is indeed trying to overcome the negative aftermath of the OBC's poor HS relations, Dabo and staff can attest to the outstanding record his staff has across the South and even beyond. USuck likely will gain a few better players inside South Carolina, but until he starts winning in conference they are stuck with largely marginal talent, projects, JC players and a few from other neighboring states. Losing is not going to cut it, especially after Old Spur gave the fans a taste of success for a mere four years out of his tenure.
Go Tigers!

If Clemson wants to have 3-9 seasons

...win 1 ACC Championship over the next 120 years, get kicked around, owned by it's in-state rival, and laughed at on a national scale that's great advice. I like Dabo's recruiting philosophy better.
It's no wonder their football program has never been any good with morons like that for fans.

As the coach said, Clemson gets the good ones and Cusschamp gets some of what is left.

Muschamp has over 200 offers out to Clemson 100

his net is wide and he is lucky to get anybody really. That being said, every time he take a 2* beating out Coastal and SC State, the gap just grows. But you know, in the long run, the coaches will love him for these 3 years until he is gone

Successful or not, in three years he's gone. He tanks, they'll try and run him off. He wins, (unlikely but I'll include for arguments sake) he's headed back to bigger and better things.

desperate attempts to be relevant in college football. His "Boom" bus, the #spursup initiative, his attempt at recruiting well, are all just ploys for him to try and win the fan base over before they win 4 games this year.
I think he is just buying time because they are not going to be a good football team. They may make a bowl the season after next and by year three they can hope to be 7-5. They will give him an extension thinking that they will soon "crack into the top of the East," but they will stay at the 7-8 win threshold like they did with Holtz, they will beat us maybe 1 time in 7 or 8 tries and finally they will fire Muschamp in 2024 when they have failed to win another East title.
At that point in time, they will try to hire Saban off some beach and out of retirement and he will just hold up a middle finger.

They're asking all the wrong questions.

The only question Clemson needs to ask is, "Can this recruit help us beat FSU?"
Everything else will fall into place once that question is answered.

as far as recruiting goes....however, 2017/2018 has some gems. I think we will demonstrate who owns the state when we start landing them.
And yes, we are cherry picking this year, no doubt about it. As any elite program does.

They just don't understand . When you're consistently pulling in top 10 recruiting classes year after year , you get what you need and sometimes what you want ...the in state stars will feel the pressure to commit or get left out mostly ...so the Coots are just scrap hounds at this point .
And they know this .

Alabama still dominates recruiting in the state of Alabama any time a big time recruit comes through, but they also routinely pull guys from the midatlanic and west coast as well. Clemson needs to shut down the SC border, but Dabo also realizes that only recruiting SC kids will turn us into Coastal Carolina. We just need to keep doing what we're doing. Cherry picking talent from Tennessee, NC, Virginia, Georgia, and Florida while also focusing on Thomas, Joyner, Wynn, Robinson, etc. in future classes. You can build a winning program with just homegrown talent, but getting to that next level means recruiting nationally, or at least expanding regionally and we've managed to do that.
