Video: Alex Anthopoulos on signing Matt Olson

Tough to watch as he's visibly upset over it. He can't mention Freddie or his agent till he signs with someone else.

Well, I like Freddie but how much money does one need. I thought the Braves offer was substantial. This is what has happened to all sports. I'm guessing that wherever he goes, he won't have a good year based on new location, new teammates, new residence, and new opponents (possibly). Just new surroundings all around.

Maybe he wanted to change things up a bit, but yeah at some

point, worrying about a million or two either way seems a tad greedy.

Guess we don’t know all the details about length of contract they were willing to give Freeman . He is a class act and will be greatly missed.

My guess is Braves probably offered

around 5 years, maybe 6 at 24 million.

My guess is Freddie wanted that magical 30 million per year for 6, 7 years.

When you realize the highest paid first baseman makes 22.5 a year, that 30 mil a year mark is Steep when you have a ton of other talent to keep on roster.

My guess is, you're gonna hear a contract announced in the next 2-3 days and it's gonna be something close to 28-30 million a year, avg, over 5-6 years. Probably with the Dodgers or Yankees.

He wanted six years. Braves wouldn’t give more than 5. They even went to 30mil for 5 years but he wanted the sixth year. Rumor is he would have signed for 25mil for 6 years which would have been the same $150 but Braves wouldn’t give him the extra year no matter what. Stupidest decision ever.
