VaTech stadium rating - 4 out of 10

Oct 1, 2017, 4:17 PM

Reminds me of Death Valley in the 80's

Never been there, but...

on TV it looks old and decrepit. It looks like a place that was needing a facelift and some pretty major renovations about 20 years ago.

..it's asymmetrical and that bothers me...

Don't you mean early 70's?
The first upper deck was completed in the late 70's, and the second was completed in the early 80's.
There's been numerous other projects since then.
GO TIGERS!!!

It has a 4.8 out of 5 rating on Google maps reviews.

Relatively speaking (compared to other ACC venues)

I'd rank Lane Stadium fourth behind Clemson (who is the clear No. 1 and it really isn't close), FSU, and Chapel Hole.

Carter-Finley in Raleigh, Cardinal Stadium, Scott Stadium, and Bobby Dodd in Atlanta are all fairly comparable.

I don't count Miami or Pitt because they are effectively borrowing NFL stadiums.

Places like Duke, Wake, BC and Cuse would bring-up the rear.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Every time I've ever been to Lane, the first thing I thought

was that the place needed a good pressure washing

The stadium is a mess, but I thought the atmosphere was cool and the crowd was loud.

I thought it was louder than Auburn, FSU, Georgia, and Texas A&M, which are the other places I've been that have reputations for pretty loud crowds.

Definitely underwhelming on the noise side versus the hype.

The entrance and key thing as well. In general much less than billed. Had a great time though!
