Clemson is marching up the ranks of teams with most weeks ranked #1 in the AP. In 2 weeks, we’ll take down Penn State and Pitt. With a very good year, we’ll overtake Army. With a historic year, we’ll overtake Michigan State.

Minnesota in the top 20 is weird too. Guess that was back in the 30s and before.
Of the top 12, I would say the least likely to regain a #1 ranking is Nebraska.

AP Polls started in 1936. Minnesota had several National Championships years ago. Many of these teams suffer from the same crap we do. It is always assumed that Bama, OSU, Oklahoma, Southern Cal are the best programs unless proven otherwise. Every year we all have to fight that preconceived notion. FSU and Miami for a time broke through. We never really have, but we are getting close.

Interesting is GT @ 0 weeks. Granted they had the Coaches Trophy in 90, not AP. I wonder if any other school was not ranked #1 before winning a Natty in a bowl (we missed than by a week in '81).
Looking to see any other school with a post 1936 Natty never to be ranked. I think there were a few odd war time schools natties for like OkSU, Stanford but otherwise, I can't think of any.
