Surprised he didn't go pro but the reality is that unless you're a first couple of rounder you can possibly make more staying in college.

I'm sure we won't even make a pursuit of him. If we obtain anybody through the portal it is going to be someone nobody knows about and more than likely won't contribute meaningful snaps. I wish I could believe otherwise, but a cat doesn't change it's stripes.

This is a great example of a fan that hasn't been on the internet in the past five days....UPDATE!!..WE WON! I know, I know....we suck so bad, we couldn't possibly beat SMU, win the ACC and qualify for the Playoffs with this crappy non-portal team full of egghead study-holics....I don't blame you for not keeping up....lots of folks on this forum already had Clemson losing by 30 and firing Dabo....Well, we lived to fight another day. Clemson vs. Texas in a battle of heavyweight programs! December 21st, 4pm..Hope that update helps! Go Tigers!!! Beat Texas!!!

Slow down there tiger. We only made it into the playoff because of an automatic qualifier. We were the 16th ranked team in the final CFP rankings. IF the automatic qualifier didn't exist, we wouldn't have been in the discussion for the 12th spot. I'm glad we made it in, but to think that we don't have severe problems is incredibly naive.

Like a lot of fans, I too appreciate your loyalty. Every season is new and different, but I believe tbat tbe point of this thread is to say tbat we could really use a talented DE to go with Parker. Yes, we won our conference, but only a fan that knows nothing about football or defense would see the Tigers as elite. His post is simply looking ahead to next season. Chill out. The portal is an important piece now and it could take a program like ours and make it almost unbeatable with only 4 or 5 pickups.

Hoffler and Mayo both have a big upside full of potential. Problem is, that potential and upside has to start showing next season. We def need someone opposite of Parker that can be that guy and take advantage of the 1 on 1 matchups right away.

Probably throw in Patrick Payton as well.
DE was the weakest part of our defense all year. (And, that is saying a lot because our LB corp stunk.)

His dad is the best LB ever to play at FSU and a many time All Pro in the NFL. He came in with great credentials and great potential.
Whether it was due to poor attidtude on his part or poor coaching on FSU's part (probably a combination of both, mainly the latter) he never panned out.
He played soft. He was a DE who only had 4 sacks. He was horrible at setting the edge. Teams cnsistently got outside running around him. I doubt Clemson would even contact him. There are far better edge rushers out there.
