Great job NCAA...you got it right...

Very pleased to see on these guys get the hammer for this coverup. This sends a message that NO ONE is above the rules and if you think you are we are going to bring the hammer down on you. This was an athletic department/football program/university coverup. There is no way this gets covered up if not for protecting the image of Paterno. Also there is no way the kids are attracted to Sandusky if not for the PSU football program. They knew he was a pervert and yet they continued to allow him to bring kids around the program....just think about that for a second....they knew of the prior allegations and had such disregard for kids...CHILDREN...that they turned a blind eye to him in order to protect their program and reputations. Now the AD and University official over the campus police will go to jail. Paterno's legacy is ruined forever. Sandusky will die in jail. The Univ President will probably go to jail too. The football program will be stripped of great recruiting classes for a decade and will face sanctions. Great job NCAA. This is a far worse tragedy that anything we've ever seen that was covered up by a school. Lives were ruined by this monster and allowed to continue to be apart of a program. Great job NCAA.

The NCAA does not officially announce the sanctions until tomorrow. Everything else is pure speculation and conjecture.

it will be a decade or more until they compete at a high level again..
"NCAA president Mark Emmert has decided to punish Penn State with severe penalties likely to include a significant loss of scholarships and loss of multiple bowls, a source close to the decision told ESPN's Joe Schad on Sunday morning."

We'll see. I don't like the word "likely" and I don't like unnamed sources. I hope they get the hammer, but I'll believe it when I see it.

tomorrow but I don't think you'd have many many outlets reporting the same thing without truth being in it...they are getting what they deserve. They played this role of "winning with honor"...what a JOKE....there's no honor in turning a blind eye to what they did. There was NO HONOR at PSU.

UNC, OH St, and Southern Cal are still above the rules. And maybe Miami whose old AD now works for the NCAA

The Trojans got a 2 year bowl ban over one player…..

Ohio State got a one year bowl ban over like 3 players getting tattoo's. UNC punishment hasn't been handed down, neither Miami. Seems like the only schools that are still above the rules are the sec teams.

in about turning a blind eye. As long as you report it correctly and are from their prefered confrence the NCAA says 'never mind'. Hoping they hammer down on PSU. That's disgusting.

I don't see why they'd get involved at all. The death penalty for PSU football is like the stern verbal warning Swaffie gave UNCheat a while back.

I think the fact Sandusky will spend the rest of his life behind bars, Joe Paterno has had his legacy tarnished, the other penny state administration who covered up the act will probably serve time behind bars, the subsequent lawsuits that will probably result in millions of dollars, along with all the negative press and shame that has been put on the university should be enough proof they're not above the rules. The ncaa adding sanctions doesn't make anything better nor does it teach them anything they don't already know as result of this horrific story
