The road does not get any easier for the Clemson men’s tennis team as they head up to face #20 NC State on Friday and then #4 Wake Forest on Sunday.

Clemson status: we were outside of the top 75 in the most recent rankings. That’s because the lack of computer boosting wins. We lost very close 4-3 to #11 Duke. A win there would have moved us up into the 40s.

Freshman Wissam Abderrahman moved into the ITA singles rankings at #75 thanks to his win over Duke’s #31 Pedro Rodenas and also thanks to the strength of his win over South Carolina’s #60 Casey Hoole earlier this year.
That puts him in range for the NCAA individual tournament which takes the top 64 players in the country.

A look at NC State - the Pack are 8-4 and ranked #20. A talented team who has been kicking around the top 20 for a few years now. Their best wins are over #23 Princeton and #24 South Carolina. They lost to Duke 4-0 who we have a closer match to 4-3.

NC State projected singles lineup:
1. #61 Robin Catry, Sr. Lille,France
2. #109 Braden Shick, Sr. Greensboro, NC
3. Luca Staeheli, Sr. Wollerau,Switzerland
4. Fons Van Sambeek, Jr. Verboven,Netherlands
5. Damien Salvestre, Jr. Marseille,France
6. #124 Joseph Wayand, Jr. Cary,NC

They are a team that switches up their lineup a lot. 1-6 are close together, very deep team. Lots of experience and they want to break into the top 16 this year to host for NCAAs. Once again, a match that will be very tough for us to win.

Should mention that NC State barely lost 4-3 on Sunday

Not as ugly as 4-0 might indicate. The doubles point was tight and most of the singles matches were competitive. State is definitely a top 20, possibly top 10, team and have steadily been on rise since current coach arrived.
