It's quite possible their top three rated WR's and top TE will be out. This is somewhat of a neutralizer. The problem is that Arian Smith and Burton have speed like LSU and Bama recent receivers.

Just based off recruiting rankings, their Dline shouldn't be that impressive.

They play a 3-4

so their OLB's basically function as our DE's. Probably less than a handful of schools in the country that wouldn't trade their edge rushers for Nolan Smith and Adam Anderson.

Their Edge rushers will be solid. But their Dline isn't that impressive to me. Just big bodies that could be difficult to move.

The overall point is that UGA doesn't have defensive linemen like Kirby had at Bama. They don't have a Jonathan Allen, Daron Payne, or Quinnen Williams type of player up front. Obviously that point was missed on you.

That's kind of what DL do. They occupy space for the backers to do their thing.

That's not the point I was making. You'll find big bodies that are difficult to move in every 3-4 scheme. I was just saying that UGA doesn't have that elite defensive lineman that Kirby always had when he was at Bama. They don't have a Jonathan Allen, Daron Payne, or Quinnen Williams type of player.

Correct.
In PFF's Pass Rush Productivity stat, Anderson is the #1 returning edge defender in all of college football with 75 or more pass rushes last year. Nolan is #5.

McFadden and Parks have their work cut out for them. Can't wait to see how they match up.

Interesting, but I always find it takes a bit more contexts. Not all stars are the same not all star advantages add up.
For example, TL16 was in the same 5 start class at JT and we know the difference. Then you have Isaiah Simmons that are 3 starts with first-round talent. Thus it isn't where you START your college career in the rankings but rather how one develops and improves during that time.

UGA OL is impressive - but that is where Clemson matches up strongly. QB - only one 5 star can play at a time. RB - only 5-star Zamir White has fought injuries. WR’s - neither Pickens or Gilbert are likely to play. DL is strong and LB’s are loaded but relatively inexperienced. DB’s - I read DK may be 2nd best player on UGA D. Let’s hope so.
IMHO this game will be DJ’s coming out party. He will be throwing & running. Get that man some high quality H2O and go Tigers!

I’ve never understood the big deal with DJ running…the times I’ve seen him he’s been slow as h3ll and avg at best…I understand he broke one off vs BC but it’s been very pedestrian…

Their OL vs our DL is going to fun to watch, for sure. They are massive up front. Skalski and Spector aren't the biggest interior LBs either. It's going to be crucial for Bresee and Davis to dominate, which I'm betting on. And then obviously we'll need our DEs to be able to get pressure. We probably need XT to have his coming out party this week. Fingers crossed.
Their DL doesn't impress me. Kirby had way better defensive lineman at Bama. Their LBs and Edge rushers are absolutely loaded, probably the best in the country at that position. And their secondary is really really good as well. DK has 1st round talent if he puts it all together. A change of scenery may have done that for him.

Our secret strength has been our walk-ons. What they got going in that department?

I would have included some of their walk-ons, but I don't know any of them. I bet none are Hunter Renfrow though.

Bama and UGA have more talent than every other team, and it's not particularly close. But, only 11 are on the field at one time. Having a 3rd string 5 star true freshman LB won't matter this game.

Thanks as always for posting. Look forward to the wonderful information you post. Roster wise and star rating, definitely the most talented we've faced. Perhaps more than Bama, and definitely more than OSU.
Not as worried about putting up points. Maybe some problems in the Red Zone. But likewise, unlike the OSU game, we need to hold them to field goals. Speculation has it Nolan Turner may not play. That's my only concern is our back-end defense. True DK got burned and many have posted that losing him wasn't a big loss. However, there was a reason he was on the field. That's my big concern. Who steps up?
