Bourbon Talk - Pondering Again

It seems like a great day for sipping bourbon. I've actually slowed down quite a bit lately with the bourbon drinking, but have decided to partake later this evening.

So, I found myself pondering again which bourbon I might reach for to kick off the weekend. My selections for today are Redemption bourbon and Thirteenth Colony bourbon. Which bourbon will you be sipping today/this weekend?

The only Scotch I ever liked was The Dalmore 12

And the Kirkland was pretty darn good. With the change in the last few years with distribution, I have been able to get Taylor's small batch, Eagle rare etc. Surprisingly Kirkland was very good. It's Kentucky bourbon I believe !

Love it. Old F did a limited small batch full proof for a local cigar/bourbon lounge and store out here. It's awesome. Might just have a splash or 2 tonight. Thanks for the suggestion

So away from my inventory. I do have 1792 small batch from my last visit...and a splash of Aberlour 12. Will see what Virginia ABC has to offer tomorrow.

I'm in single malt mode more these days...probably summer's heat is driving that.

Kudos to you rulz followers, too! Nice pairing! ;)

Welcome to the Old Dominion Salty55®

I'm sure I don't have to tell you that many bourbons are hard to find at Virginia ABC, and many others are special order only.

I hope you have some luck.

I don't shun others who do. I will offer my expert opinion as I used to be a bourbon cognoscente, or what my therapist at the VA refers to as, "an alcoholic". My go to for any bourbon depended on what my palate was craving. If it was warm outside, I tended to gravitate more towards a sip of Eagle Rare 10 or Buffalo Trace on the rocks. However, if it was cold outside I tended to gravitate more towards a Weller Antique 107, Woodford Reserve Double Oaked, or Woodford Reserve Baccarat Edition. During special occasions, I would break out Pappy Van Winkle 23 year to impress the guest. Of course, my daily sipper used to be just plain ole Jim Beam Bourbon.

New Riff Malted Rye! Amazingly smooth...which tends atypical of ryes. Easy sipping on the rocks. Hey, InspectorM, have you tried it yet?

Salty55® ,

This is intesting, as just yesterday I had a few sips of New Riff bottled in bond to warm up my palate. Even though, I bought the bottle in 2022, I have barely touched it because I was disappointed in its taste.

Anyway to answer your question, due to my experience with the New Riff BIB, I've steered away from the others. The BIB is the only one I have tried.

All this being said, I'll keep it in mind. I wouldn't be against giving it a try if one of the watering holes in the area has it on the menu at a reasonable price.

I didn't care for New Riff bourbon either, which is why the malted rye was a leap of faith...rewarded!
