So I drove by Wille Brice today

Yikes! It really is in the ghetto!
The campus doesn't actually feel like college campus either.
More like a pseudo wannabe city with an identity crisis.
No wonder those coots are so jealous of Clemson.

I disagree, not a bad campus at all, especially the last few

years, they have built a lot of new buildings.
The stadium on the other hand is not walking distance to campus. However, they have built up around the stadium as well. They removed the farmers market a couple of years ago and built condos among other things.
That being said, all of the garnett in the city makes me sick to my stomach.

There are MAJOR differences between USUC and other city

schools such as GA Tech, NC State, C of C, Nebraska and others.
GA Tech may be in the middle of downtown Atlanta but they have an on campus stadium and literally have a wall around their campus so you can see where it begins and ends.
NS State is slightly out of downtown Raleigh and has a definite footprint. Their stadium is off campus but not in the middle of an industrial park and crack neighborhood.
College of Charleston does tend to blend with it's city but it's a beautiful city.
Nebraska is in the middle of Lincoln but clean, pretty and classy (except for people with corn cobs taped to their head). Their stadium manages to be on campus too.
Then there is Texas, etc. I could keep going.
Never seen a campus or stadium as ugly as USUC and I've been to a lot.

Big difference between Scar and CofC campuses
Oct 16, 2013, 3:35 PM
[ in reply to Colleges in cites are always just different. I don't really ] |
|
Cofc has a historic feel to the area. Even though there are stores and shops mixed in next to school buildings there is a comfortable feel to going to school there. Scar has none of this. It's in a trashy city and there is no history to speak of to give it an excuse for looking so ragged.

If you moved CofC's campus about 4-5 miles up Meeting Street, then it'd have more of the USC feel.

If you become a rich and successful Gaycock, what do you do? Buy an old train car to hang out in, like a derelict hobo. Living like a bum is the good life in Columbia - and it only goes downhill from there.
