now seemingly coming to the realization that Putin is NOT a typical leader who is interested in the good of his people, honest dealings or cooperation with other countries, or anything resembling world peace and stability. Lord have mercy, every other human on the planet has known from day one that Putin is a coniving, murdering dictator without a single redeeming quality and must be dealt with accordingly. I think Trump's background and personality is highly effective and serves him (and us) well a lot of the time, but a lot of other times the old New York schnmooze is a joke on that level. Seeing our president this far out of touch is unbelieveable, but here we are. If our economy takes off and the tarrifs work and Iran caves and so on and we have peace and prosperity, I'll be tickled to death. But holy fiking shut!
I know we have a lot of Trump haters on here, and I totally get it. We can and should do so much better, and should try to do so without allowing ourselves to be pushed to extremes by media and online echo chambers, but I fear that's all we've got any more.

to think that Trump is one conciliatory conversation with Putin away from getting right back on the Russia bandwagon. The arrogance it takes to overrule the rest of the civilized world and say, no...I talked to the guy...he's cool. While he's killing thousands of people in an unprovoked war.
But yep...let's all hope he has turned an actual corner and sees now what everyone else could clearly see...the only solution to Russia is making Ukraine strong enough and Russia weak enough that he is defeated. Everything else is declared a victory and a sign of weakness from the West. No different than Iran.

And it's why folks were saying that even if you didn't want to continue providing Ukraine with support, you could do it in a way that didn't embolden the aggressor. But plenty of the Trump sycophants on here acted like there were only 2 options : 1) Support Russian aggression or 2) Commit to a land war in Russia.
It's was child like logic then, and now we see ANOTHER reason it was so stupid. On a whim Trump tries to undo the damage he did, and no one on his side sees or cares it was his poor decision making that worsened the mess.

Exactly right. There's an easy argument to be made for non-intervention.

I think it would be incredibly short sighted, but okay. "not our war"..."already in mountains of debt"..."can't be the world's policeman". Yadda yadda yadda.
But we have done in such a childish and amateurish manner that it was a complete disgrace and yes...has resulted in more people being dead.
Cozing up to Putin. Creating an equivalency between the aggressor and the attacked, or worse... Belittling the attacked. Belittling our allies. Making a clear statement of lack of ownership of current events. And randomly stopping committed support for absurd reasons...like taking an inventory. I'm sorry...the DoD doesn't know how many Patriot systems it has? They couldn't have done that a week earlier? Humiliating amateurism.
Even if non-intervention was the way to go, we could have done so in such a way as to preserve our moral leadership in the world. By acknowledging that one party in this war is wrong, and one is the victim. Acknowledge where our sympathies lie. But no...Trump had to make a mockery of our global leadership.

VERY SCARY TO SEE PEOPLE STILL ON TRUMPS A$$ AFTER WHAT WE WENT THROUGH THE LAST 4 YEARS. OUR COUNTRY WAS RUN BY A PARTY THAT PROPPED UP A GUY THAT WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT CLOSE TO BEING UP TO DOING ANY KIND OF JOB. GOD ONLY KNOWS WHO WAS RUNNING THE SHOW. TRUMP HAS BEEN IN OFFICE LESS THAN 6 MONTHS FOR GODS SAKE. HE HAS ALREADY ACCOMPLISHED A LOOOOOT. HE IS NOWHERE CLOSE TO PERFECT BUT HE WILL AT LEAST LET YOU KNOW WHERE HE STANDS ON EVERY ISSUE IN FRONT OF A CAMERA AND MICHROPHONE. NO HIDING. JUST HARD TO BELIEVE HOW OUR BELIEFS HAVE CHANGED IN A FEW SHORT YEARS. #### EVEN CLEMSON HAS BECOME WOKE. VERY SCARY TIMES.

leader of the world's most powerful nation being so totally clueless as to true nature and character of Putin, is not just a hater being "on his a$$", and pretending that it's okay since his predecessor was so bad (and he was) is totally warped stupidity, and an example of exactly what's wrong.
That's coming from somebody who's never voted for a democrat and probably never will. I'm not willing to S the D of somebody just because he constantly gives Dems the finger and does some things I may agree with. We all should be able to evaluate every issue, like this, on it's own merit, and consider the possible consequences. The fact that so many are totally incapable of that extremely low degree of honesty and objectivity is alarming.

time, one that is simply a Trump critic/hater, or a Trump-approved clone. Freedom is imperative, but it will kick your a$$ if you switch off your brain and ignore your heart.

Chris Cuomo said something recently that I could relate to: ..."We have to see that the interests of the many are being held hostage by the obsessions of the few on both sides. They are killing us."

(2)Understand how we got here and why we are staying here, only then can we make sure we don't fall into the same trap again. And if you think it's just a matter of rebuking everthing Trump is, every position or policy he supports, then back up and try again.
