How the Chad will utilize Sammy this year

I hope Chad doesnt put so much emphasis on using sammy out of the backfield this year. I think that was part of the decline in productivity when he played last year. While he is quick and a threat out of the backfield I just feel it will be too risky this year. Now that we no longer have Nuke to rely on if Sammy were to go down we could be in trouble. I just wanna see Sammy do what Sammy does best which is line up as a reciever and toast secondaries.

we sometimes faked it--it made the LBs watch the edge everytime and usually opened up the middle for a nice gain.

That's something some folks miss. The fake sweep pulls a defender to the side leaving a hole for a receiver. We picked up almost a sure 5 yards running that play tons last year.
And when we did hand it to him he did pretty well.
Not much a fan of the "run it up the middle" formation for him, but the sweeps seem to work well all around.

I agree with everyone. The sweep is a productive play, but let Humphries and Hopper run it.It does keep the d honest, plus the fake off of it with Sammy in the route is a potential homerun threat.

Anytime you get a player with Sammy's speed

in motion to give him a head start is a plus. I do agree though with sweeps and handoffs being kept to a minimum, but a swing pass or screen is excellent. Even a wheel route to get him deep on the sideline!
I'm excited about the passing game for 2013. Also a stable of young talent in the backfield should promote crazy offensive numbers.

That classic double move from Sammy. After that move he is either down the sidelines or up that middle seam. Its a thing of beauty when you watch it as it develops.

see him taking Nuk's place next year or starting for that matter. The reports that I've seen say that he needs to learn to use his hands more, learn to run crisper routes and get much stronger to create better separation. Those things will be taught to him, but a Sammy comes along very, very rarely, ready to go from day one. Hopefully, he'll be a good one!

Can he stay healthy is a big concern. He seems a tad soft.

What a joke of a comment. He's had two real injuries. He's not off on the sideline because he has a hangnail.

When he was a freshman he seemed to go down early. At first I though he might not like taking the hard hits and driving for another yard or two. I soon understood what he was doing. He came from high school with the ability to know when the play would be over. He almost always knows when to fight for another yard and when to let up to prevent bad things from happening.
I hope Sammy's ability to make this determination is infectious and I hope HotRod is catches it.

I will just go ahead and say it:
Sammy is going to have a season of epic greatness!
He comes back with heart, determination and motivated FIRE!!
While the Coots say "Fear the thumb", I say fear the Deuce!!
Sammy is going to torch it up in a major way!
GET THAT MAN......the ball!!!!
Go Tigers!!!!

If Sammy is to be utilized,

Sammy has to block.
Sammy has to distract linebackers when he sweeps across the backfield.
Occationally, Sammy has to take a handoff on that sweep to make the fake look real enough to distract the secondary.
Sammy is willing and able to run out of the backfield. The idea is that everyone in the secondary be looking for Sammy to carry the ball every time he 'sets,' in the backfield. It makes his blocking assignment easier and distracts from Tajh.
Oh yeah, if you just want to 'use,' Sammy, have him just run routes and catch the ball.
