Yes. I think absolutely. A HOFer coaching the position? Who knows coverages, tackling, hitting, psyche, and speed like Brian Dawkins? No one. He's weapon X dude haha enough said

No he has never been a coach at any level. Just because you are a great player does not mean you would be a good coach.

Dawkins is millionaire future NFL HOFer...I'm sure he loves Clemson and would help any way he can, but he is not going to want to be a full time college DB coach. Dabo will find a proven DB coach and upgrade the coaching for that position. Although the position does not have the most talent on the team...it can improve and will with a better coaching.

in fact, great athletes usually make bad coaches because it comes natural and easy to them, which is hard to teach. whereas, walk-ons that may not have the natural talent make good coaches because they are always busting their ### to make it.

I agree usually. All that in consideration, I think he would still make a great coach. His Passion and physicality would be a huge improvement in philosophy from day one.

think just because he hasn't coached that he wouldn't be great at it. Dawkins is HIGHLY intelligent and understands the game as well as anybody. Moreover, he is a quality individual that loves young people and communicates well with them. He's worked a few camps at Clemson, and I lived next to him for two years in college. The guy would be a GREAT GREAT coach! That being said, he probably isn't interested because he doesn't need the $, and is a real Family guy. Probably doesn't want to be away from his family much now that he's not playing. Look for him to do some analyst gigs though.

It certainly puts one in a great position to succeed if he were to try it, though. I certainly would trust Dawkins over what we've had coaching our DB's the last few years. Have you not seen the busted plays, wide -ss open receivers, lapses in coverage, poor tackling, poor technique, etc. we've let burn us over the last few years? I liked Cheese because of his recruiting ability, and the way the kids seemed to really like him, but his product on the field lacked something, IMO. I doubt Dawkins would do worse, and I bet he would do much better.

Thigpen, former Auburn coach, he played at UNC. Excellent recruiter good position coach. With the current staff we have our recruiting would be lights out. The N.C. Stae coach would be my 2nd choice.
