defending national champions. Little did fans of either team know that the next time Auburn would visit, Clemson would be the defending national champions.

Our QB also didn't hit his stride until we were down 21-7

People seem to forget that. Boyd didn't look good against Troy,Wofford and the 1st quarter of the Auburn game.Almost forgot, Steele was our DC then, now it's his first trip back .
The rest is history " Death Valley South Carolina "

Dabo's comments after the game. It was an early big win for Dabo and from an Auburn perspective seemed a little like a BAMA fan rubbing in a win over Auburn. He was basically yelling and said something to the effect that he couldn't think of a better place for their win streak to end than in Clemson. Nothing wrong with his words but the hyper enthusiasm rubbed a lot of Auburn fans the wrong way and led to some animosity toward Clemson. Look for them to say something about that if they beat us in September. Heck, they ought to like us after our beating Bama in January.

everyone else long before that Dabo celebration. We messed up their plans that day. They were supposed to win and go all over campus with their little shakers celebrating. Chuck Oliver, an Auburn grad on the radio here in Atlanta, cried about Dabo for two weeks after that.
Auburn fans are some of the most obnoxious fans you will find anywhere. Despite the fact that we are supposedly like-minded fans that went to the land-grant school etc, I always pull for Alabama to beat Auburn to a pulp.
How tacky can a fanbase be that they rolled Toomer's Corner when Clemson beat Alabama. Wow, the Bama fans were making fun of that. They were saying that someone should tell them that it wasn't their tigers that won the national championship. They should forever be embarrassed about that. Talk about living through someone else.
They will also tell you that Clemson copied their nickname, their color, etc. etc., But they have no rock or hill run. We came up with the tiger paw, which at times they copy badly.
The old saying of "Clemson is Auburn with a lake" is almost true. Actually, Clemson is Auburn with a lake, foothills, less humidity and without the flat coastal plain landscape. Clemson also has two national championships 1981 and 2016. Auburn has 1 1/2, the 1957 title was split with Ohio State and they have the 2010 all to themselves.
Auburn is Clemson minus two playoff appearances!
One more thing. When Sammy got into trouble in late Spring before our kickoff classic victory over them in Atlanta, Chuck Oliver came on the radio every day demanding that Clemson suspend Sammy from that game. Dabo did indeed suspend Sammy from the game and we still whipped their butts 26-19. I'm sure it would have been much worse with Sammy. Fast forward to 2016 and during the summer Auburn had two or three players get in similar trouble. To my knowledge, all of them played. I never heard the homer Chuck Oliver say anything about it. Oh well, once again, we beat them anyway.

Auburn has already had two chances to avenge Dabo for that

and they have come up short both times, in 2012 when we had to play them without Sammy Watkins and last year when they had us at home. Would be just like Auburn to beat us 6 or 10 years later and claim they were motivated by that day.
