Why does the offense always get going once the game feels out of reach?

It’s called prevent defense. Look at how much time has worked out the clock with this drive. They don’t care if we score as long as we use up a bunch of clock.

Come on now. The better team isn't playing as hard anymore. They let the little sorry team off the hook so to speak

Because the defense goes into prevent mode. Give up the underneath stuff to burn the clock but don’t give up homeruns. The game is won Syracuse just needs to burn the clock. They’ll happily give up a touchdown that takes 5-7 minutes off the clock.
