When did Neff provide some insight and why didn't you cover it?

My report on Neff's talk would have been, "TIGERFANS ARE TREATED LIKE MUSHROOMS!"

'Neff feeds fans BS and tigerfans continue to remain in the dark.'

Neff just wanted to loop us in on some things. He’s going to land the plane on some of the low hanging fruit, and then he will circle back with us.
Be sure you are tracking this.

How Clemson and FSU did not see the scam of the 'Grant of Right' thing in the ACC is beyond me. The ACC has essentially held everyone hostage, because they have to pay an unGodly amount of money to leave. So, they were held hostage until 2036. Now they are only held hostage until 20230.

You expect businesses to openly tell their customers what is coming down the pike?

Let’s say you are a Ferrari owner and fan. Do you expect Ferrari to show you and the rest of the world their plans for model year 2028, much less 2030? Their new suspension design and 1278 hp engine that weighs 6 pounds?

You’re a customer of Clemson football. They owe you nothing except a great product if they want to keep you as a customer. I guess you feel you should be able to go to practices as well?

None of the public should be allowed at practices! As a former player I attended our BBQ Saturday and attended the scrimmage as did other former players and their families. We were reminded by the staff that no pictures nor videos are allowed at practices! The coaching staff wants NO LEAKS from practice available for our opponents.

News flash. The money tree is short for the 3031 $75 million exit fee plus the $20-25 million Revenue Sharing money so don't hold your breath on leaving the ACC even then.

Clemson would make that difference in a couple of years in a better paying conference. It's the reason why Maryland, Texas and OU paid their exit fees. Try again Valley Coot.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The $75M will appear in 2 mins upon SEC or B1G invitation***

I found this text from him really interesting last night:

"Regarding Clemson and the ACC - I could see any of the following go down: Clemson stays in the conference, or ends up leaving. I think one of these situations is likely to happen within the next 10-20 years."

Please respect the anonymity of my source.

I love the ACC. Better than any other conference, the ACC balances athletics with the primary purposes of universities. I truly hope that the pursuit of the almighty dollar does not dictate the path we choose.

My bet is that it certainly is about the money, and that is just about all it boils down to in the end.

It would be interesting to see what if any major programs have not won ACC Championships, since 7 coaches have. That's a pretty good number. But if you want to make the argument that you are attractive to others, it would be nice to have a few more programs be successful. Or one.

And btw, what did ya'll think he was going to say? We are leaving in 2029. We are never leaving? I agree the article title "provide some insight" is entirely misleading, but I'm pretty sure none of us thought he was going to give you a 100% we are leaving and when.

Stevie Wonder can see the ACC will be absent 3 or 4 teams by 2031 and we better be one of them unless you want to stick around with the leftovers like BC and Wake Forest and be in basically a Group of 6 conference.

The poker analogy certainly applies here. Neff and Clemson are engaged in a very high stakes poker game with the ACC, the SEC, the Big 10, and the rest of college athletics- especially college football. I think Neff is doing a good job of playing the hand he has been dealt. The truth is nobody knows what the next 5-10 years hold for college athletics. Who would have predicted 5 years ago that we would be where we are now? The most important thing Clemson can do now is to remain strong in as many sports as possible- especially football. At this point it seems FSU has lost some of its luster as far as being attractive to the SEC and the Big 10 because of its poor performance in football last year. We don’t want that to happen to us.

What did you think he would say? Waste of virtual ink. It will happen one day or it won't and none of us have any impact or input so let's focus on the season ahead and the first game. What "might" happen on August 30th is what I am interested in not, something that "might" happen some years down the road. Clemson will do what is best for the UNIVERSITY and we will know when it happens.
SO, will our new RB's be able to read blitzes and protect Cade?????

Every once in a while , I need someone to post how smart Neff is just to keep me honest about the man, cause I don’t know if any other Clemson A.D. has spoken more words with less content than that guys does continuously.

If the guy doesn’t run for some government office someday , then he would have missed his calling.

.... exactly what the SuperLeague will look like. But when the time comes we are prepared to make the move. Until that time comes we will continue to be the athletic bell cow of the ACC. Everybody, rest easy. We have Clemson in great position.
