Fact is Clemson has never been good at basketball. Fact is any coach that has had any success at all has left the first opportunity they got. Fact is BB has tied the second highest ever post season finish in program history. Fact is talent has improved. Some top 100 kids on roster. BB is going nowhere, and if you think he is you don’t have a clue.

I guess I was in dreamland when I watched those very good teams with players like Horace Grant, Dale Davis, Elden Campbell, Larry Nance, and many others. You need to read the history of Clemson basketball, especially during the years when Bill Foster, Cliff Ellis, Rick Barnes, and Oliver Purnell coached.

Fact is the ACC is at a historic low. Fact is Coach K will be gone. Fact is UNC will have a second year coach. Fact is coaches coming into the league don't have a huge hill to climb anymore. Fact is we can afford to pay a higher salary than most mid major schools. Fact is our past performance does not need to define our future success.
There is no reason that we can't get a coach that could turn us into a premier basketball program. I'm not saying that the right guy will be obvious or that we will choose him. I am saying that Brownell isn't that guy. Even if we end up with the next Larry Shyatt, at least we will have tried.

lol yea one elite 8 40 years ago. Do y’all actually think we are going to push to win the ACC every year and make a deep post season run every year? There is literally no program history to back this. Yea it would be great to compete for a national championship in every sport every year, but literally nobody does. BB program’s has been on par with clemson basket ball history. Get real people. If you are in the covo most years to make the tourney most years what else do you expect ? History in no has shown Clemson can ever be a power in basketball. Y’all just look like Idiots to think we can have every program too notch. Wish it was possible but literally has never been done. Please just give me some reasons you think Clemson can compete with top notch programs? When has Clemson made deep post season runs? The past 4 years we have hadn’t two tourney appearances and 1 sweet 16. Pretty on par with the rest of our basketball history. Clemson doesn’t pay bball players so how do you expect us to compete with programs that do? What SEC schools are you talking about with top notch football and Bball programs. We beat bama last year in bball and beat auburn to advance to a sweet 16. Those are surely the only programs you could think to be peers in football. Florida? I’d much rather take our success in football. You just aren’t going to attract top notch coaching talent or playing talent to clemson. A school with no basketball tradition or history.

But the coaching situation is a mess. We have had teams with multiple guys who have gone off to the NBA that had disappointing seasons. If we managed to get a coach had better decision making than Brownell, those teams probably could have had deep runs.

The 14-15 team had Blossomgame, Nnoko, and Grantham, all guys who played in the league. Try and do some research on Clemson basketball, since you clearly know nothing about it, coot.

But seriously, if those guys played in the league list their stats and minutes played. Only one even saw the court and was sent back down after a couple of teams. The Gleague is seldom referred to as “the league”, but I guess you consider it to be. Do you also consider playing low level minor league baseball as making The show? Bc that’s that you just said by saying those guys played in the NBA. They just didn’t. Grantham saw a couple a games, seldom was in the court, and was sent back down to developmental league after a couple of games.

Problem is the lunatic fringe doesn’t understand basketball. After every loss, the lunatic fringe calls for a firing. That’s insanity. Two-year extension last fall. New AD. Fight to the finish attitude. Large portion of roster returning. Good recruiting class coming in. Lunatic fringe acts like Clemson could go out and have its pick of coaches. Clemson is a tough job. That’s just the truth. No tradition and lousy fans. You’ve got a solid program that doesn’t swim in the cesspool that is college basketball. Members of the lunatic fringe have screamed for Will Wade. Dodged a bullet there. Shaka Smart is smart. He would chose to stay at Marquette, a basketball school. Mark Few would laugh if he got a call from Clemson. Who else is in the candidate list? Unproven mid-major head coach? Unknown Division I assistant? Maybe Geno at UCONN is ready to try and coach men. The lunatic fringe just needs to put down the crack pipe and go back to fussing at Dabo about his hires. Because unless you’ve got $50 million, it doesn’t matter what you think. It’s just noise that hurts the program.

I think there are several in the "lunatic fringe" that understand basketball, but you don't need to. The heck with Clemson's past, what in Brad Brownell's past makes you think that he will make Clemson a successful basketball program? The fans aren't lousy. They just have not had a reason to feel like they had anything to cheer for.
Nobody expects a coach to come in here and lead us to the Final 4, but we would like to have the ability to hope for it. If we fall to 12th in the ACC next year have we really lost anything? At least with a new coach, we can fit the unknown into our dreams. Who knows? Some of it might actually come true.

Tremendous effort by the players and not the coaches. Should have fouled immediately and forced them to shoot free throws to tie the game. Don't give them a chance to win it that way. Too much time and space on the clock. If they make two free throws Clemson would have the last shot to win it. Poor coaching decision.
