Too darn sore to drink. Dock building is for the young

whipper snappers. I'm far too old and fat for this. Luckily there were like 15 people working. It was a few shy of an Amish barn-raising, but close. Old dock was demolished. Old post dug up. Had a tractor/backhoe and a post driller, which helped. Dragged the old dock out with chains after removing the bolts, then the posts. Dug new post holes for 6x6 marine treated wood posts, 5 feet deep with concrete. Framed up the supports for the deck and added deck boards. Went through 8 drill batteries. We kept them on a rotation charging. Had two skill saws. Cut a pallet of treated boards in half, with 72-inch boards.

Meanwhile, the beer started working, so uncle-in-law got the tractor and piled up the old dock material in a huge pile, added an old floating dock they had in the woods, and lit a huge bonfire. Tossed in a few kindling stumps for good measure.

We went through over 1500 3-inch screws, and probably 400 10-inch screws.. Son of was a champ, and worked hard, which was good to see.

That is SERIOUSLY impressive. Any of y'all preppers? If so, the 15 of you gonna be around to repopulate the planet.

How much beer is needed for a job that size?

You listed all the other measurable.

I only had two. I can't work hard and drink. Each takes

serious effort and I'm no multi-tasker. But I would estimate most had a good 6-8 beers each on the day. Some pushed 12, others like me just a couple.

So it’s not a movable dock?

Does the water level not vary a lot on the lake you are on? Sorry I haven’t updated my TNet spreadsheet and it doesn’t have the lake name for Tiggity.

If we couldn’t move ours out and in at Hartwell it would be a disaster. Put the boat back in last Thur w my Dad so we can start striper fishing again now that deer season and holidays over.

Murray, and levels are normally +/- 5 feet or so. This

winter they drew it down 10+ feet to kill algae, so it's prime dock building season.

It's probably a 60-foot dock with a platform about 10x15 feet or so. Nothing floats (muskrats, etc) Water is about 12 feet or so deep off the end in the summer.
