A ND drubbing of USCw would be a grand help for us and not involve the SEC bias of the media. A good askwhuppin of USCe would add to that and move us close enough in the polls to strike after the CCG.
Neither of those require anything from the top ten SEC teams with isn't likely.

A UGA loss? We need UGA and OSU to win out

And TCU or USC to lose in the next week or two. 12-1 Clemson gets in over 11-1 Michigan, 12-1 TCU (w a recent loss), and 11-2 USC.

nope need winner of Ohio State UM to lose in their title game. But truly hope TCU and CU win out where both get in. Big 12 champ always gets blocked by SEC from making final 4 unless OU. Last year Cinn picked to play Alabama in semis cause knew Baylor would have beaten SEC Alabama. SEC BCS creation kept out strong teams TCU and Boise State out. So hoping in 12 format doesn't try to stick 6+ SEC teams in. But can't wait for day Alabama gets in with losing record. technically still have chance though should have 5 loses. Texas TAMU and Ole Miss

I have to say the team a and team b comparisons really surprised me. I guess I'm too stuck on the EYE test they keep talking about? It sure doesn't seem like that championship team's quality.

The difference being that 2016 team played down most of that year. I don’t know that we can say that for this team, I think they play right where their talent level is. The real difference being the ceiling that team had compared to this one. DW4 could hide any flaw when not turning the ball over, we don’t have a player on this current offense than can hide those same flaws.

This year's team has a superior D-Line (due to this year's tremendous depth) and a better LB Corp than the 2016 team. Depth deficiencies on Defense contributed mightily to our loss to Pitt in 2016.
This year's DB corp isn't as good as our 2016 team's defense. So 2016 had that going for them.
Overall, 2022 team has a better D than the 2016 team.
As for Offense, the 2016 team was enormously better (O-Line, WRs, and QB) than our good units this year.
2022 team has better RBs than 2016.
Overall, 2016 team had a far better offense (top tier) than this year's good offensive unit.
Louisville was a truly top end opponent in 2016, whereas they are just pretty good this year.
FSU was a really powerful opponent in 2016, whereas they are just pretty good this year.
VA Tech in 2016 was ~ as good as UNC is this year.
Overall, our 2016 schedule was tougher than this year's schedule.
Our 2016 loss to Pitt was a last second FG. This year's loss to ND was a akswhooping.
2016 team definitely deserved to be in CFP; hope that things wiggle around enough to get to CFP this year.

Dannyboy,
I think I have to call BS on this year's d-line being better than 2016 - Carlos Watkins, Austin Bryant, Clelin Ferrell, Christian Wilkins, Dexter Lawrence, Albert Huggins, Scott Pagano - I would say that lineup is top 5 in college history.
I might also argue LBs with Boulware, Skalski, Davis, Joseph & O'Daniel
I do agree about the offense, though.

Sometimes the LB,s make rookie mistakes and play a little wild with holes and large gaps...they have lots of talent...need a little maturity!

The comparison is ridiculous. Team A had watson at QB team B has DJ. Do you think with 2:10 on the clock DJ would drive us down the field for the game winning score? Lol, that’s not happening. Could DJ have matched Lamar Jackson or did whatbwatson did against fsu? Stupid comparison

Here is an easier way to list the best path for us to get in the top 4.
UGA: Beat LSU Ohio State: Beat Michigan Michigan: Lose to OSU (convincingly would be better). TCU: Lose in Big12 title USC: Lose to ND and/or Pac10/12 title game LSU: Lose to UGA Bama: Doesn't matter we jump them if we win out.
We don't necessarily need all of those teams to lose. Just LSU and Michigan with a combo of TCU or USC could still get us a 4 spot. Just all of them losing guarantees us being in.

the were many Ws against (at the time of game) ranked games
CFP logic is not good - that's why they are ADs of lackluster college programs

This is a bunch of road apples. There has got to be a straight forward set of rules. This is too open to corruption.

Agreed!! Clemson should have jumped both LSU and Alabama based on Tennessee getting crushed by unranked South Carolina. LSU got spanked at home by Tennessee and lost to the one team that both LSU and Clemson played. The way the Vols lost shows Tennessee wasn’t as good as the hype which makes the way they hammered LSU even worse. Same for alabama. Bama losin to not one but two mediocre teams compared with Clemson who has beaten more ranked opponents than both of those teams should be enough? Alabama has struggled a few times as well as losing. They beat Texas by one. They should’ve lost that game and the A&M game. Both Texas teams are below average

Dawgs could lose to Georgia Tech this week and help us tremendously with another big ACC win… this is college football & U of sc just best Tennessee the SEC’s sure playoff team before the beat down.
LSU lost to FSU also, so if the ND loss counts against us for common opponent then shouldn’t FSU be considered a common opponent too.
I predict this next two weekends could be a awesome time to be a Tiger as the brand will be bigger than ever heading into the playoffs.
I think we might even have a shot at being a 3 seed but if we win our two games we will be in the playoffs!

ESPN talks about the Wins against ranked teams, but totally leaves out the Wins over Top 20 Pittsburg, Wake Forest and #10 NC State which would give the Tigers (6) Wins over Top 20 teams????

Except we didn't play Pitt. You may mean then #10 Syracuse. That was WF ranking at the time too!
