Because being close to Clemson would be an unfair advantage to Clemson.
That’s why they’ve been hosting it far, far away from any ACC schools in the past.
Obviously the ACC is just trying to be fair. Obviously.

Last year, it was played in Dukes home ball park in Durham. Technically that would be an unfair advantage to the four schools in North Carolina.

Looked at this a little more and think the issue is stadium capacity. Fluor field is only like 6k vs Durham or Charlotte being 10k. Gwinnett, GA would be an option and Columbia, SC too with similar stadium sizes. That said, Clt is actually fairly close to Clemson and probably the fairest location for all including CLT airport vs Durham or GVL or even ATL since Gwinnett is still like an hour drive away.
Go Tigers and we should never have any ACC events in the RDC area ever again!

The state of South Carolina is ineligible to host any ACC Championship tournaments due to the Bowery in Myrtle Beach still selling rebel flag shirts

What are the 1 through 4 tournaments for attendance? Greenville maybe at least once? Maybe all 4? Googled and couldn't find it.

I looked, 87-95 tourneys in Greenville had from 30K to 43.6K for the high in 92.
96-2000 were in Durham, or Salem VA and had 22 to 26K then after 2001 attendance was not listed.

For 22 ACC tourney listed attendance on website at 49,643, not sure where almost 59K came from. If that is 5th most I found:
2021 Charlotte 58,516
2013 Durham 58,454
2014 Greensboro 57,3xx
