If both guys leave , what are our Tigers looking at “RB wise” in ‘24 ?

We're fine barring injuries. Obviously hurts experience but just wait until you see Jay. Then quadzilla would slide into Mafahs role. And the freshman coming will push for carries early. . Even with Mafah staying.
Just don't seem like we can get an article on Mafah without mentioning Shipley. One can only speculate on what would have been if Mafah had been 1 all year 🤔 Then again I'm biased.

Your bias is absolutely founded though. Mafah should have been the starter all along

Over their 3 yrs Shipley has done more. Why would Mafah start from game 1?

Mafah is averaging 18 more inches per carry but Shipley brings more in the passing game.
It’s close but Shipley has been the starter for a reason, and there’s no reason to not continue that.

My guess is Ship leaves and Maf becomes feature back.
Our young RB’s are good and if they don’t move up someone is likely portalling (lol!)

Mafah--rush --149 att-805 yds.-9 TD's ___ rec. 18 for 100 yds.__ 167 plays for 905 yds.9 TD's total
Shipley-rush-141 att-718 yds,-5 TD's __rec,25 for 203 yds. 2 TD's __166 plays for 921 yds, TD's total
we have the luxury of two great backs that share the load equally -- when Ship, went down,Mafah, carried for them both and done a heck of a job -- the two together make a two headed monster, that give opponents a hard time. I hope they both come back, for another year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don’t know if anyone else noticed the huge hug these two shared on the field at the end of the game Saturday. I’m not going to read anything into it except the real respect and love they seem to have for each other. I have had the pleasure of talking to Shipley’s dad several times over the last couple of years because he is usually sitting just a few rows in front of me at the games. I asked him one time what Will thought of both backs being in the game at the same time. He said Will and Phil both love it and want to do it all the time. They believe it is how we can get the best players on the field. I would really love to see them both come back. They are only 3rd year players this year so it isn’t a big stretch to think they might.

Yes. Now that we have figured out how to use them. If they do come back next year they could be one of the best tandems we’ve ever had.

Mafah did not. There have been a few that played another year after being recognized on senior day. Pretty sure Wilkins and KJ both did. Ship said he wanted to do it in case it was his last game but says he hasn’t made a decision yet.
