Happy New Year. Time to look towards the Spring Game?

Elephants in the room.

Were the 2020 seniors on offense so good they covered up DJ’s lack of confidence and mojo? Does DJ need eye surgery- seriously. Playbook seemed limited. Eye surgery helped Crablegs Winston with his INTs… maybe DJ needs a quality Optometrist on retainer? DJ can certainly afford the consult with NIL.

Will Mafah stay? He’s soooo good. I’d like to see a 3-headed monster next season if Mafah stays.

IF DJ stays and competes for QB1 next season, will there be a quality 3rd? Seems like Helms wasn’t put in to games to see his moxie. Who will be 2nd/3rd QB?

DBs…. Losing the IMG guys … how much will that sting with the guys going Pro?

Thoughts?

I have the same concerns. I am excited that a new offensive line coordinator is coming. We weren’t lacking talent. We were lacking development.
DB’s: I fear we lack competitive depth. Losing the blue chip recruits really set us back. Regardless of what some may say about being all in. Our playoff run was due to having elite depth at every position.
WR’s: I am also seeing lack of talent and depth at receiver. Some elite prospects have not panned out. You know it’s bad when 22 starts 3 straight games. That’s another conversation.
QB: keeping multiple elite QB’s is impossible into todays world. No consequence xfer portal makes greener grass easier to reach. DJ seems to have been a bust. Klubnik seems to be a Brees clone with legs. Very excited to see what he can do.
RB: The RB room is stacked. I pray Mafah sticks around. He’s a big bodied back with speed who will earn playing time if he is patient. Again, no consequence xfer portal makes green grass too easy to find.
That said, I am a bit worried about being able to meet 85 scholarship players without using the portal. I have no issues using the portal. I get why Dabo doesn’t want to. He is more concerned with equipping young men for life after football. Part of what I respect lost about our coach. I don’t know how long the next playoff run will take. I’m okay with a couple of down years. I’ll #### and moan like I always do. But, Dabo has earned a ton of leeway. We really get to see what he’s about facing this adversity for the first time in his career! I have to admit, he may have done his greatest coaching job this year. Could have lost the team at .500 and had a terrible year. Instead, we have ten wins again! I even doubted the possibility.
