I'd add fewer mistakes, little or no key injuries and OL plays better, especially in protection

Get the OL fixed, and we will be very pleasantly surprised at how the entire team plays. Don’t get it fixed, and we may still be a little better, but no championship past ACC will be forthcoming.

I'm really not worrying to much about how our Tigers will perform this 2024 season, and I do hope that UGA carries that 13 favorite all the way to gameday bc, that is one thing that our past teams have let eat at them all summer long. They will work their butts off all summer making themselves individually better as players, and they will be ready to hand the Mutts that 13 points right back to them. I would not be at all surprised to see Clemson win that game, but I also would be all that disappointed if we loss bc it is the first game of the season, and I really don't know if our team will have enough time to Jell just over the summer, but I do expect to see them playing like a championship team by mid-season, and that would go a long way in helping most to overlook a 1st game loss to UGA...

To get respect again, we need to show we can play with GA the opening game. GA isn't an offensive monster but they have just as good a defense as Clemson, if not a little better, just a little. Even if we lose it needs to be something like 17-13, not 31-10, because then everyone would start to doubt us again.

Let's play along:
Moore has not played a down of college football. Does he look the part? Absolutely, but so did Frank Ladson and Joseph Ngata. I personally don't think that will be the case with Moore, but at this point he is an unknown. Since we play 2 boundary receivers in our offense, they could both be on the field at the same time, although Brown is a more than adequate slot WR option

Josh Sapp may the closest example of you actually making a point, but do you really want a 6'7" TE who has shown a penchant for catching touchdowns not on the field. Once again, no rule that says you can't run 2 TE packages

Wade Woodaz has played hundreds of meaningful snaps and has shown he is an absolute stud who has a nose for the ball and being in the right place at the right time. Besides he is penciled in as the MIKE LB and Brown was playing the off ball LB spot(s)

I don't really see this conversation going down in the coaches meetings:
Dabo: "guys I know we devote 80-100 hours of our lives a week on this, but I'm just not gonna start TLAW and Etienne today, because the fans really LOVE Chase Brice and Darian Rencher."

The 6'2" 3-star Sapp is better than the 6'6" 4-star record-setting Brinny? No.

I'm sure Dabo would have started his buddy's son over Brinny if Sapp were better. Sapp is the shortest TE Clemson has had in over a decade. Here's Brinny's bio from ClemsonTigers.com...

Talented weapon in the passing game who grew into a complete tight end in his first year as a full starter in 2023 ... enters 2024 having caught 78 career passes for 850 yards and 10 touchdowns in 1,269 offensive snaps over 35 career games (13 starts) ... his 50 receptions in his junior season in 2023 tied the Clemson single-season school record for a tight end ... became the seventh tight end in Clemson history to record 10 career touchdown receptions, joining Jordan Leggett, John McMakin, Dwayne Allen, Brandon Ford, Davis Allen and Bennie Cunningham ... his 126 receiving yards in a record-setting night at Miami in 2023 were the most by a Clemson tight end in a single game in school history, and his nine receptions in the 2023 Gator Bowl tied the Clemson single-game record for receptions by a tight end.

Winning the ACC and no worse than an 11-1 record would be a guaranteed spot. We have to find a running game and a kicker and we should have a chance if we are lucky with injuries. Do not be upset if we do not beat Georgia because it is the conference that that matters to the Playoff.

This as in all stories of it type is meaningless. The Georgia game is all the matters right now. The the dreaming of what could be is just a distraction and a mind bender.

If Tigers go 10-2 and no ACC title the disrespect will continue and they will not get ranked high enough to get in the 12 team playoff. So yes, winning the ACC will be required to get in for sure.

It would take MUCH improved run & pass blocking & better-than-Gator-Bowl DB-play

May 24, 2024, 10:59 AM

It would also take improved WR play. Many people are down on Klubnik but his supporting cast didn't give him enough help last season. The pass protection was seldom good. The run-blocking didn't always keep the D honest. And he didn't have a healthy, great WR corps. When he had time in the pocket, he was usually very good and very accurate. His scrambling ability was quite good. He certainly made some youngster, first-time-starter mistakes, but I'm pretty confident that he'll have learned from those mistakes. He simply did not have the same caliber of supporting-cast that DW4 & TL16 had in 2016 & 2018. Hopefully Luke whips the OL into shape, and WR help arrives (in the form of Wescoe, Moore, & a return-to-health for the veterans).

Many people seem to think that the defense is going to be just fine and keep us in games. I hope that's true but I'm not that confident. If you go back and look at the Gator Bowl, UK scored 35 points, including 2 deep-ball, quick-strike TD drives where our secondary failed. That needs to get cleaned up.

We still have time for our prayers to be answered that Coach Luke can turn last year's unit of tomato cans into a oline than can blow people off the ball and pass block. That maybe some divine intervention will take place that Klubnik develops better pocket presence, arm strength, recognition and decision-making skills. That the WR's get tougher in attacking the ball and winning the 50/50 battles. That the defense continues to improve. Oh yeah...please send a kicker who can hit FG's from at least 45 yards and make extra points consistently. I know this is asking an awful amount but if we all get on our knees and pray, maybe by August 31st, we can get our requests answered. AMEN🙏🏾

First, no sense debating who should start now - you're sure not going to start a freshman over a vet just because you think they might be better. Let's see what folks earn and then have the argument. However, i will push back a little on the emphasis on UGA and FSU. Of course they ae important BUT what kills me and I think a lot of the "eye-test" of the team are the losses to folks like Duke, NCSU, Pitt, Miami and SC. We were past that point for a while - they are "nice" teams but we are expected to beat them if we are to regain the top tier. A loss to say an undefeated UGA or FSU is not the end of the world but you add to that a loss one of those other guys and we remain in mediocrity.

Specifically an o-line (developed by Matt Luke), a HC that lets the OC run a balanced game plan (Mafah up the middle and bubble screens will not beat quality teams), a composed QB, young WR's who can separate and run the right routes, and the same Defense that we have right now doing what they do and taking care of business.
