I think several made bad decisions to move on. Could you imagine the team's opportunities or potential if everyone that had eligibility came back? That would have raised everyone's stock price. Only exception might be Murph. I think he may he topped out.

So in the end for another- football is "all business". We need an amateur league of legitimate
student athletes.

He had two seasons with Trevor Lawrence

He was too injury-prone to take advantage of that golden opportunity, and then the DJU years hit, which was far worse for us than the wuhan.

Bottom line - who knows what he can do. After a couple of seasons of waiting for Ladson and Ngata to be the next Mike Williams and Tee Higgins… of which they failed miserably. For me they were both busts here. Come back, stay for another season, I don’t think it would make much of a difference.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sadly, I 100% agree.

Mar 25, 2023, 4:05 PM

I hope I am wrong but I think the draft is going to humor Ngata. I hope he’s made alternative life plans.

I was thinking the very same the moment he declared for the NFL. I said to myself, dang young man, you should have took a look at your stats at Clemson, then answer one question as honest as you can. If you were the owner of an NFL team, would you draft a total stranger with the career stats he had at Clemson, an honest answer should be no I wouldn't, and I believe that will most likely be the answer he gets from the NFL teams!!!

He will get a shot in the pro’s. May end up as a tight end.
If he does not find a niche, he will bounce around for a few years.
I wish him well. He still has potential.

4.54? Man, that is SLOOOOOW for a WR

Mar 25, 2023, 3:33 PM

in college, much less in the pros. No wonder he hardly was open and seemed to always have contested balls. Wish him luck, but I don't see him getting drafted.

no it's not, that decent speed for his size

Re: 4.54? Man, that is SLOOOOOW for a WR

Mar 25, 2023, 10:17 PM

Agreed. Jerry rice never ran much faster than 4.59. Deion made him look slow. Speed doesn’t make one great. Ngata will not even make an XFL roster. Tavien Feaster might have some advice. Richard Brooks Honda in Spartanburg. I would have written #### Brooks but the lame filter on TNet always kills it. SMH.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not slow at all

Bad advice:

Mar 25, 2023, 5:24 PM

There are a few exceptions, but the majority of these players who leave early get bad advice from somewhere. Praying, talking to your family, and friends (all good things) are probably not what you should be basing that decision on. Players like Ngata, who never lived up to their billing, or who were injury prone, should NEVER leave early. They need every bit of college experience they can get to prove themselves. I wish him well, but he has a tough road to hoe to play at the next level. Not only is speed a factor, but going up for 50/50 balls, like most of our receivers the last couple of years, is not his strength. Again there are many players that have prematurely left Clemson, hopefully against Dabo’s advice.

The article says DJU's play is part of what made Ngata look less productive. Reversing the names in that statement would also be accurate.

IMO Ngata will be minimally missed if other WRs stay healthy

1

Mar 25, 2023, 7:11 PM

Still I wish Ngata the best with his pro tryouts and hope he can make a practice squad. See the below comps next to Nuk Hopkins. Clearly Ngata compares well to Nuk athletically, but does he have the passion and hand-eye coordination? Few do.

40 yd dash - Joseph Ngata 4.54 / Nuk Hopkins 4.57
10 yd split - Joseph Ngata 1.59 / Nuk Hopkins 1.62
Vertical jump - Joseph Ngata 34.5" / Nuk Hopkins 36"
Broad jump - Joseph Ngata 10'4" / Nuk Hopkins 9'7"

Re: IMO Ngata will be minimally missed if other WRs stay healthy

Mar 25, 2023, 7:21 PM

All those stats aside. Nuk has huge hands and a knack for coming down with the ball in traffic. Sort of like rebounding in basketball…all about position and desire for the ball. Ngata has to want it and never really showed that at Clemson. Bottom line is he should have stayed.

I was about to mention the size 3XL gloves Nuk has to wear. Nuk could ###### a drop of water out of the dessert. Ngata couldn’t catch water if he fell outta boat.

Ngata couldn’t carry Nuk’s jockstrap. Nuk was a man among boys at EVERY level of competition. Ngata is a child among men in college. Worst comparison Ever.

I really think he would have benefitted from a year with Riley and another QB at the helm

Re: TNET: Ngata is moving forward and hoping he's showed enough to NFL teams

Mar 26, 2023, 5:48 AM

Hindsight is 20/20, but with so many receivers out this spring Ngata would have been the primary outside receiver to benefit from learning the new system. Definitely was in a position to elevate his performance and stats in a final year at Clemson. Of course that would depend on staying healthy so I can understand the desire to show his skills while he’s actually healthy. In the end I see a few years of NFL practice squad and XFL team(s) in his football future. I think his size and athleticism provides value for a practice squad contribution.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I was excited for him when he came in. The injuries really

1

Mar 26, 2023, 7:24 AM

hampered him. His lack of speed would be fine if he had the catch radius of Nuke, or the route running ability of #13. But he was really average at best. I wish him luck.

He wasn't healthy enough to show Clemson fans his skills. I fear he's making a bad mistake for his future. Good luck to him.

Justin Ross was much better when he was healthy and he's barely in the league. Ngata has an NFL body but thats about it.

If he consistently plays like he did in the Orange Bowl, he may have a shot
